Position: Lake Ridge Head Start Classroom Aide
Part Time: 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $10.00
 
JOB SUMMARY: The Classroom Aide serves in various roles.  Classroom Aides may be required to act as a third person in a classroom to assist the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in all aspects of classroom management; including active supervision and maintaining adult child ratio in a classrooms.
 
 
Job Responsibilities:
• Assists the teacher and assistant teacher with all aspects of classroom management for preschool age children.
• Interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner, either in a group setting or one-on-one.
• Assist children with their needs, i.e. Using the bathroom, washing hands, brushing teeth, etc.
• Provide coverage to maintain ratio in various classrooms
• Helps teachers and assistant teachers maintain cleanliness and a safe learning environment.
• Helps teachers in the preparation of classroom activities, i.e. cutting, copying, etc.
• Helps teaching staff ensure all experiences for Head Start children are fun and educational.
• All other classroom based, or center-based duties as assigned
 

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Some experience working with children is preferred.
• Spanish speaking is preferred.
• CDA course enrollment is required within 6 months of hire
• Clearance of background check both state and federal
• A physical examination and TB test are required as condition of initial employment and continued employment.

Lake Ridge Head Start Family Support Job Description ( Full Time)

The Primary role of Family Support; is to coordinate and provide direct support services to Head Start families through case management, home visits, family needs assessment, family goals, resources, and referrals, establishing and maintaining community partnerships, and doing recruitment/enrollment.

Parent and family engagement activities are grounded in positive, ongoing, and goal-oriented relationships with families and work toward parents achieving their goals. By providing support and encouragement to parents and guardians, family engagement outcomes are achieved, resulting in children who are healthy and ready for school.

Scope of Responsibility:

· Provides recruitment and enrollment services.

· Provides individual case management by building trusting relationships with low-income Head Start families in identifying strengths, assessing their needs, setting goals, and utilizing available resources to achieve desired outcomes.

· Establishes and maintains community partnerships to assist in the resource/referral process for Head Start families.

· Supports and encourages parents and guardians to become involved and engaged in the Head Start Start program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist with ongoing recruitment efforts including outreach, and enrollment/re-enrollment of families into the Head Start program.

· Participate in family engagement activities/meetings/events

· Participate in recruitment and promotion events (i.e. open house, various community events, and meetings) to share applications and information on the program;

· Distribute information including flyers, brochures, and posters to local businesses (i.e. gas stations, laundry mats, public health, etc.).

· Assist with parent orientation in giving an overview of the program and services provided

· Implement strategies including home visits to learn about families and the community.

· Provide case management services to promote and restore positive functioning and self-sufficiency.

· Conduct home visits with assigned families

· Address family needs in the Family Partnership Agreement per Performance Standards

· Set goals and provide coaching to parents to reach those goals

· Complete and review family assessments and goals a minimum of three (3) times a year.

· Enter data on MyHeadStart in all family-related content areas: enrollment, health, attendance, family engagement, family partnership, etc)

· Assist families directly or through referrals and follow up with: education, employment, budgeting, parenting curriculum, health, housing, literacy, mental health, substance abuse, crisis intervention

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA Degree preferred in Human Services/Child and Family Services or related field.

2. Experience working with families/preschool children.

3. Must have a thorough knowledge of computers.

4. Must be self-directed, and have good organizational/time management skills.

5. Verbal and written communication skills are essential.

JOB DUTIES:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
