JOB GOAL To teach elementary school children academic and social skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares teaching outline for course of study
2. Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual teaching aids to present subject matter in class
3. Prepares, administers, and corrects tests and records results
4. Assigns lessons and corrects papers
5. Maintains order in classroom and on playground
6. Counsels students when adjustment and academic problems arise
7. Discusses students' academic and behavior problems with parents and suggests corrective action
8. Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school board
9. Observes students to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluate progress
10. Represents the school and the community in a positive manner
11. Reports to the principal when there is knowledge or reasonable suspicion that a child's health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect
12. Actively promotes the use of computer/technology to develop learning skills
13. Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD
QUALIFICATIONS

JOB GOAL
To provide security and protection for school-age children, parents, and staff in school zones before and after school

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Monitors traffic and traffic signals in school zones to provide safe access to and from school
2. Assists school children and their parents in crossing the street to ensure their safety
3. Directs traffic and notifies motorists not to proceed when children and parents are crossing the street
4. Warns motorists when they are exceeding the speed limit in school zones and/or records their license plate number for subsequent prosecution if children are endangered by their actions
5. Has knowledge of traffic safety laws and regulations pertaining to right of way, speed limits, and school zones
6. Monitors the flow of traffic and observes traffic signals to determine when it is safe for pedestrians to cross the street
7. Directs and stops traffic to allow for the safe passage of school children and parents
