Essential Functions:
• Attends meetings and training (e.g. unit in-service, safety, staff meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
• Cleans assigned vehicles (e.g. interior, exterior, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
• Diagnoses vehicle malfunctions (e.g. electronics, engines, transmission, tires, suspension, etc.) for the purpose of determining needed vehicle repairs and/or replacements.
• Drives vehicles (e.g. school buses, vans, etc.) for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
• Inspects vehicles (e.g. brake system, oil levels, coolant, tire pressure, wiper blades, fan belts, exterior and interior condition, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the vehicle is in a safe operating condition.
• Maintains tools, equipment and/or shop area (e.g. cleans, organizes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of tools and equipment, and safety within the workspace.
• Maintains a variety of records (e.g. parts orders, maintenance records, inventory, price quotes, fuel/diesel logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting required information and meeting regulatory requirements.
• Oversees other mechanics (e.g. Vehicle Repair Assistant, third party repair shops, summer helpers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that assignments are completed in compliance within established guidelines.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance program (e.g. oil change, tire rotation, break check, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition and meeting mandated requirements.
• Prepares written materials (e.g. repair and maintenance logs, parts lists, warranty claims, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and meeting mandated requirements.
• Repairs a variety of vehicles and components (e.g. buses, vans, trucks lawn mowers, tractors, diesel/gasoline engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition.
• Secures bus yard/shop (e.g. doors, gates, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
Certificates and Licenses: ASE Certification in Specialized Area, Bus driver Certificate, Driver’s License CDL & Evidence of Insurability, Passenger& SP Endorsement, DMV Physical Certification.
Continuing Educ. / Training: Targeted job related education meeting employer's prerequisites
Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance, IVP (Identity Verified Print) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Salary:   $19.40/HR

Essential Functions
• Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies, accidents, etc.) for the purpose of resolving and/or recommending a resolution to the situation.
• Assists students and other passengers (e.g. chaperon field trips, transport to/from airport, CTY classes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student safety during transport to/from and during field trips.
• Cleans assigned vehicles (e.g. interior, exterior, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitization of vehicle.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills for the purpose of ensuring efficiency of procedures and complying with mandated requirements.
• Drives vehicles (e.g. school buses, vans, etc.) for the purpose of transporting passengers overscheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
• Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition.
• Maintains tools, equipment and/or shop area (e.g. clean/organize shop during summer, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of tools and equipment, and safety within the workspace.
• Monitors students and other passengers during transit (e.g. directs Bus Aide when handling severe behavior problems, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
• Performs minor body work (e.g. front ends, fenders, upholstery, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the appearance and safe operation of the vehicles.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and complying with mandated guidelines.
• Prepares reports (e.g. mileage, behavior reports, student counts, maintenance records, work orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines.
• Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action.
• Responds to inquiries from students, parents, and/or staff (e.g. schedule, delays, unusual pick-ups, etc.)
for the purpose of providing the necessary information regarding transportation services.
 
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certificates and Licenses Bus Driver's Certificate, CPR/First Aid Certificate, Valid Commercial Driver's License/Passenger Endorsement.
