    Job Description
    School Psychologists are employed by Franklin Community Schools to work with families and educators to ensure appropriate educational experiences for all children by promoting the use of research-based psychological theory to assist in curriculum, instruction and school reform.
     
    Purpose
    • To provide diagnostic and intervention services for students.
     
    Preferred Experience
    • Skilled in basic computer operations – Word, spreadsheets, internet use, and data management. Including but not limited to Google platforms
    • Experience in the school setting
     
    Qualifications
    • The school psychologist must hold a valid license from the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Professional Standards. Required Licensing Area: School Psychology
    • This position requires an active driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel locally
     
    Essential Functions
    Purposeful Planning And Preparation
    • Use a wide variety of assessment techniques at an individual, group and systems level to evaluate/identify potential learning difficulties and to monitor progress.
    • Prepare qualitative, comprehensive evaluation reports that identify strengths and weaknesses of students and provide educational recommendations in language that is easily understood by parents and educators.
    • Provide meaningful suggestions/recommendations to the Case Conference Committee based on diagnostic data available. Relate diagnostic information to conference participants in understandable language.
    Effective Instruction, Treatment And/Or Instructional Support
    • May facilitate psychoeducational, counseling or therapeutic groups for elementary, middle school and high school students based upon the needs of each school.
    Leadership And Professional Responsibilities
    • Interact in a professional manner with students, parents and colleagues
    • Assess the educational and mental health needs of students by participating in school based programs and intervention activities designed to address learning and behavioral difficulties.
    • Recommend strategies to teachers, parents and administrators regarding learning styles, challenges in behavior, social skills and individual needs of students. Provide in-service training to staff, educators, community personnel and parents.
    • Participate in corporation based committees as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with school and community based personnel.
    • Keep current of best professional practices.
    • Assist in the development of initial IEP in collaboration with the case conference committee.
    • Meet the educational and mental health needs of all students by actively participating in school based programs, intervention activities, etc. designed to be proactive in eliminating learning and behavioral difficulties.
    • Strengthen working relationships between educators, parents and community services.
    • Actively seek greater knowledge of the field, through further education, attendance at professional conferences and in-services, and involvement in professional organizations.
    • Attend required meetings and school related activities.
    • Serve as Case Manager for initial multidisciplinary evaluations.
    • Adhere to state / federal / corporation guidelines regarding the referral process.
    • Complete evaluations and reports in a timely and accurate manner by adhering to state / federal guidelines regarding completion of the referral process.
    • Utilize and account for time efficiently.
