    Farmington High School is sekking an experienced Secretary II for the School Counseling Office

     

    This posititon is Full Time, Full Year, 7 hours per day with an unpaid lunch. Benefits include health insurance, 401a defined contribution plan, paid sick , vacation and holiday time.

     


    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

     

    The Secretary II provides direction in secretarial and basic office procedure skills to direct and maintain work flow in the office assigned.  This service includes the processing of assignments and completion of reports on a timely basis, independent of supervision.  To complete the assignment, the Secretary II must interpret, analyze and edit information data or communications, sometimes confidential in nature.  Knowledge of Google Suite of tools, SchooLinks, CT SEDs, Powerschool, Papervision and the college application process preferred.

     

    The ability to work within assignment deadlines, sometimes under pressure, is a requirement of this position.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    • Candidate should have a high school diploma; Associates degree or equivalent job experience preferred.

    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to word process at 65 words per minute

    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to file in both alphabetic and numeric filing systems

    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to operate a computer, a calculator, copying equipment,  and other equipment required to complete job assignments

     
    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to perform intermediate level word processing, spreadsheet, database, publication and presentation computer programs effectively in work assignments

    • Familiarity with Google Suite of tools, SchooLinks, CT SEDs, Powerschool, Papervision and the college application process 

     
    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to maintain cooperative working relationship with office personnel, staff , parents and students

     

    SALARY: $30.52 - $34.41 per hour depending on experience (per FPSEU contract)

     

    7 hours per day (not including unpaid  lunch), full year

     

    STARTING DATE: Anticipated July 1, 2025

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. Administrative Assistance

     
    • Managing the workflow associated with the FHS School Counseling Office

    • Coordinating all office functions associated with the School Counseling Office

    • Working with confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner

     
    • Working in a collaborative style with all constituents associated with the School Counseling Office

     

    2. Office Support and Coordination

     
    • Supporting the School Counseling Department leader, performing any related tasks and duties, as assigned  

    • Supporting the Counseling Office team, including counselors, psychologists, and social workers

    • Creating, maintaining, managing, distributing and archiving student academic records

    • Creating and maintaining office files and copies

    • Supporting students and parents with questions, i.e. 504s, registrations and withdrawals, appointments, working papers, etc. 

    • Coordinating, scheduling, and processing all 504 meetings and documentation

    • Scheduling and coordinating Google invitations for annual individual counseling meetings for all 10 through 12th graders and their parents/guardians

    • Coordinating and supporting developmental counseling lesson schedules, college representative visits, and the college fair

    • Collecting, analyzing and processing data for graduation, post-graduation and district reports

    • Maintaining monthly mobility reports, processing transcript requests, education verification requests, tax letters, Social Security papers, etc. 

    • Facilitating communications via ParentSquare

     

    3. Financials

     
    • Maintaining counseling budget accounts and monitoring encumbrances

     
    • Maintaining and processing orders for the School Counseling Office

     

    4. Other Responsibilities as Necessary and Assigned.
