Position: MTSS and ADSIS Learning Specialist
Location: Forest Lake Area Middle School
Hours per day/FTE: 1.0 FTE
Job Description:
Forest Lake Area Schools is seeking qualified candidates to support the middle school development of MTSS systems of support and provide direct student support services. This is a TOSA position that will report to the Director of Teaching & Learning and Middle School Principal. This person will be responsible for developing and coordinating MTSS systems at the middle school; ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations and providing coaching and assistance. The will collaborate with other MTSS Specialists and the Teaching & Learning team to implement the MnMTSS strategies. A portion of this staff members schedule will be to provide direct student service through proactive behavior management strategies for students based on need.
Qualifications/Licensure:
Current Minnesota license is required
Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
Minimum five years’ successful classroom experience with demonstrable student achievement results in literacy and math preferred
Experience using data in diagnostic programming and instructional planning
Proven results from implementing best practices and research-based strategies in literacy and math instruction as well as classroom management and SEL
Experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of individual learners
Experience working with students at all levels and providing intervention
Effective listening, written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills when working with staff, students, and community
Familiarity with Fastbridge screening and assessment tools and reports
Proficiency with technology and technology systems
Ability to work in a team setting
LETRS Training preferred
Responsibilities
Provide targeted instruction to students focusing on behavior, utilizing research-based strategies and best practices for interventions and individualized support to cater to the diverse needs of all learners.
Collaborate with teachers to analyze data in order to identify intervention needs and behavioral support strategies.
Create and implement classroom-based interventions that are developmentally appropriate for individuals and small groups.
Engage with students in flexible settings, whether one-on-one or in small groups.
Regularly monitor, document, and share progress updates with teachers and families using various communication methods.
Work alongside the building leadership team to assess staff development needs.
Actively participate in the building’s Intervention Team (IT) and Data Team.
Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning team to develop and execute plans for enhancing the MnMTSS Framework.
Work with building administrators to establish a comprehensive support system for academics and behavior across all tiers.
Lead the creation of a district-wide MTSS Handbook and assist the school-level MTSS team
Contribute as an active member of the District MTSS leadership team, communicating progress regularly.
Provide training to staff on effective school-wide data collection systems for monitoring academic and behavioral progress.
Support the sustainability and growth of MTSS initiatives throughout the district.
Offer training and technical assistance to ensure the ongoing development of support within the MTSS framework.
Monitor district databases to track student data related to academics, behavior, attendance, and school climate.
Aid in the creation of data visualization systems and dashboards for staff use.
Assist staff in managing, analyzing, and utilizing student data effectively.
Collaborate with administration and staff to enhance family engagement aimed at supporting student success within the MnMTSS framework.
Ensure compliance and fidelity in implementation according to district procedures, state guidelines, and federal regulations.
