    Effectively observes assigned work hours.
    Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
    Follows the daily schedule as prescribed.
    Adjusts to work assignments and/or schedule changes.
    Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills
    Provides extra assistance to students with exceptionalities, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and/or mental disabilities, and 504 Plans.
    Assists identified students with transporting materials or supplies as needed.
    Assists identified students with specific personal and physical needs.
    Assists with bulletin boards and decorations for instructional purposes and for special events.
    Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, school yards, or on field trips.
    Communicates clearly and positively with students and all stakeholders.
    Serves as a source of information and assists any substitute teacher assigned to the class.
    Performs other duties as assigned by the administrator or his designee. 
    Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
    Maintains a cooperative working relationship with administrator, supervising teacher, students, parents, staff and public.
    Participates in professional learning activities which align with school improvement goals.
    Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the district.
    Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignment.
    Prolonged periods of standing or sitting could be required.
    Accepts responsibility for the work assigned and accepts constructive criticism.
    Additional school level responsibilities as assigned by administrator.


    CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
     
    Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and refinish floors; clean, dust and polish furniture; wash
    windows and walls; clean restrooms; dispose of rubbish, change lights, etc.; make certain
    all areas of the building are kept in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition according to
    industry and/or district standards.
    Pick up litter within the schools and on school grounds.
    Assure safety during inclement weather to including shoveling, salting, providing slip
    protection on wet floors, securing against wind damage, snow removal from roofs,
    remove debris from down spouts when clogged, etc.
    Applies cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures.
    Adheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment.
    Performs minor repair and maintenance as authorized by district maintenance staff.
    Removes extraneous dirt/markings from interior and exterior vertical/horizontal surfaces
    (walls, doors, etc.).
    Performs minor painting to walls, rails, playgrounds and other areas of the school.
    Keeps all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness.
    Initiate maintenance service requests according to district procedures. Follows-through to
    assure that maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
    Maintains inventory and request cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish
    assigned tasks.
    Maintains awareness of energy conservation and make suggestions of methods and
    procedures to consider energy.
    Secures equipment and supplies and protects against pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse.
    Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
    Periodically inspects, or otherwise maintains awareness of, facility and equipment to
    detect and prevent injuries or damage.
    Secures school building to insure proper building security at all times.
    Verifies that emergency equipment is maintained and repaired as need be.
    Assists in implementing emergency planning and response.
    Performs other duties as assigned.
     
     
    Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Incumbents must have successful experience in working with families and communities,
    and at all times keep the school’s positive image upheld.
    2. Graduation from high school or equivalent.
    3. Must be trained in First Aid, CPR and defibrillator training.
    4. Ability to communicate and maintain good working relations with all District employees,
    vendors, contractors, and public entities.
    5. Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the
    ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to
    interruptions and changing priorities.
    6. Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision making capabilities are essential.
    7. Knowledge of state and local codes related to assigned trade/craft.  Includes OSHA and MSDS regulations.
     
    Must possess a valid Michigan State driver’s license and a safe driving record and be able and
    willing to operate district owned vehicles.

    $20 per hour X 6 hours per day X 5 days per week
     
    SCHEDULE
    Noon until 3:15 PM.  Paraprofessional
    3:15-6:00 PM.        Maintenance
    Non-school days will be flexed.
    After school extra-curricular days may be flexed.
    210 days a year
     
    REPORTS TO
    Superintendent-annual evaluations will be completed.
