QUALIFICATIONS:
 
 
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Two years experience as substitute school bus driver or bus driver.
3. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license or CDL.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students while operating a school bus.
2. Work closely with Transportation and the school principals regarding hazards encountered on bus routes.
3. Conduct thorough pre-trip inspection of the vehicle and its special equipment to ensure operating properly.
4. Inform Transportation regarding any suggested changes in route schedules or bus loads.
5. Assist other school bus drivers with their routes in cases of emergencies.
6. Obey all traffic laws.
7. Complete and submit to Transportation all required reports and information.
8. Possess the physical and mental capability of operating all school buses assigned to Transportation.
9. Address and assist with student discipline problems, aided by the school administration and Transportation.
10. Facilitate a feeling of safety and security to transported students.
11. Manage students in a positive and effective way.
12. Keep the assigned bus clean and sanitary at all times.
13. Comply with Georgia Department of Education School Board Regulations and School Board Policies pertaining to school bus driver certification and responsibility.
14. Attend assigned workshops and training programs.
15. Submit to Drug and/or Alcohol testing when required by School Board, State, and/or Federal policy.
16. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
17. Communicate effectively with the school, staff and the public.
18. Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the school bus, and also during loading and unloading of the school bus.
19. Inspect the school bus at the end of each run to ensure that no student is left on the bus.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation or Designee.
 
REPORTS TO:  Director of Transportation

SALARY RANGE:  Monthly, 180 days.

2. Ability to verbally communicate clearly with students, drivers, school officials and parents
3. Pass alcohol and drug screening
4. Pass criminal history background check
 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Assist the bus driver with pickup and delivery of students
2. Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus
3. Facilitate a feeling of safety and security to transported students
4. Assist students with physical or health limitations while riding the bus
5. Lifts children as required. Operates equipment, including wheelchairs, tie-downs, seat belts, harnesses, mechanical lift and other adaptive equipment as necessary
6. Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses and wheel chair clamps are secured as required
7. Must not allow students to enter or leave the bus while it is in motion
8. Responsible for reasonable behavior of students while bus is in transit
9. Must not allow students to thrust their heads or arms out of open windows
10. Must not leave the bus while students are inside,  except in the case of an emergency
11. Must check the bus to ensure no student is left behind on board unattended at the end of the route
12. Assist driver in assuring disciplinary reports are completed properly
13. Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality
14. Must notify the bus driver when you will be absent from riding the bus
15. Must meet the driver at designated location at designated time
16. Must refrain from the use of cell phones or any other electronic device, unless in emergency situations
17. Complete and submit to Transportation all required reports and information
18. Manage students in a positive and effective way
19. Attend assigned workshops and training programs

SALARY RANGE:    Twelve-month year.  Salary grade 22 (Step 1),  in accordance to the DCSS Salary Guide

JOB SUMMARY:
The Mechanic will provide efficient, economical vehicle service and repairs ensuring the safe, efficient operating conditions of all school system vehicles and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Vocational diploma in Automotive or related field;
2. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a mechanic;
3. In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems;
4. Must possess or attain and maintain a valid Georgia commercial driver’s license with a “P” and “S” endorsement within 90 days of the hire date;
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to apply critical thinking skills and recommendations in rendering solutions to various issues;
2. Ability to maintain equipment records;
3. Positive job attitude and the ability to work with others;
4. Must have excellent organizational skills;
5. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Inspects, diagnoses maintain, overhauls, and repairs automobiles, trucks, tractors, buses, and other related equipment;
2. Performs major and minor mechanical repairs and adjustments on power trains, brakes, steering, electrical, cooling, and related systems;
3. Performs complete overhaul on gasoline and diesel engines, major and minor engine efficiency improvements;
4. Diagnoses motor knocks, noise, or mechanical failures through both road testing and the use of diagnostic equipment;
5. Replaces or repairs universal joints, axles, transmissions, and clutches as required; Replaces tie rods, steering sectors, spring, and shock absorbers;
6. Replaces or rebuilds generators, alternators, regulators, starters, wiring, and gauges;
7. Maintains and repairs environmental apparatus installed on automotive equipment;
8.  Makes emergency road calls to perform minor repairs on equipment or tow disabled equipment to the garage;
9.  Performs light welding and machine work incidental to the completion of repair assignments;
10. Changes and repairs tires when necessary;
11. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records associated with all maintenance activities;
12. Assists in general housekeeping of the repair areas and related facilities;
13. Assists in the implementation of standard safety procedures;
14.  Repairs and maintains other shop equipment as necessary;
15. Maintains and repairs school bus upholstery;
16.  Performs other such duties as needed or assigned by the supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
