POSITION: Assistant Principal
LOCATION: Various Locations
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Principal plays a vital role in supporting the school's mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment for all students. Working closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists in the administration of school policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a conducive learning environment. They provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff, students, and parents, fostering a culture of excellence, equity, and collaboration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Master’s Degree in Education is required; higher degree is preferred;
- Must hold or be eligible for the appropriate Georgia Leadership Certification in the area of Educational Leadership;
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in education as a classroom teacher, counselor, instructional coach or other certified position;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Ability to work with and serve as a liaison with various constituencies;
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people and to observe, listen, and provide leadership which results in the best possible teaching and learning atmosphere
- Strong decision-making ability, problem-solving skills, proven performance and resource management skills;
- Ability to effectively lead, organize, and direct the work of others;
- Ability to develop implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to exercise strict confidence in handling sensitive information;
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assumes responsibility in the absence of the principal;
- Assists in the enforcement of policies concerning student discipline and attendance;
- Assists with safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of students, while fostering an engaging learning environment;
- Keeps the principal apprised of activities, situations, and developments that affect the school operation;
- Assists in building a talented instructional team;
- Assists in the supervision, observation and evaluation of staff;
- Assists with the organization and implementation of staff development;
- Assists with directing and improving curriculum and instruction;
- Conducts faculty meetings when requested by the Principal;
- Supervises student activities, assemblies and other activities;
- Assists in organizing student activities;
- Assists with the supervision of student orientation, registration, and scheduling;
- Supervises textbook and equipment inventory as assigned by the Principal;
- Assists with the administration and supervision of the total school program in accordance with applicable regulations;
- Assists with the maintenance and operations of the school facility;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Principal
SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
