Food Service Director

The Food Service Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the food service program, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing staff, and planning menus that meet nutritional requirements and budgetary constraints. They also manage financial aspects, maintain food safety standards, and ensure efficient operation of the cafeteria and related services. 
Key Responsibilities:
• Menu Planning:
Develop and implement menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special needs, while considering student preferences and budgetary limitations.
• Staff Management:
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate food service personnel and monitors, ensuring efficient and safe food prep along with a safe and orderly recess and lunchroom environment.
• Budget Management:
Prepare and manage the annual budget for the food service program, including purchasing, labor, and other related costs.
• Food Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all food service operations adhere to strict food safety and sanitation standards, following regulations and best practices. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to food service.
• Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all food service operations, including inventory, financial transactions, and staff records.
• Communication:
Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents, and the community regarding the food service program and its policies.
• Problem Solving:
Address and resolve issues related to food service operations, customer complaints, and staff concerns. 
 
Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
• Understanding of food and nutrition principles.
• Experience in managing budgets and financial records.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software (i.e. POS and Payment Systems)
