Location: Gesu Catholic School, 2450 Miramar Blvd. University Heights Ohio 44118
Position Rational: As a pre-K - 8 Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence and Ohio Designated STEM School of over 720 students, Gesu has a need for a full time Guidance Counselor .
Responsibilities:
Student Counseling: Provide comprehensive counseling services addressing academic, career, and personal/social development.
Program Development: Create and coordinate implementation of school-wide programs that support mental health, academic skills, and career planning.
Educational and Career Planning: Assist students in understanding their educational and career options and making informed decisions.
Crisis Intervention: Act as a first responder in crisis situations involving students, providing immediate counseling and follow-up support.
Documentation and Reporting: Document session notes, update student records, and prepare for upcoming presentations or workshops.
Professional Collaboration: Work closely with school personnel and families to create a supportive network that facilitates the growth and success of all students.
Continuous Learning: Engage in professional development to remain current on best practices in school counseling and adolescent development.
Requirements:
Educational Background: Master’s degree in School Counseling, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
Certification: Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in counseling with a strong understanding of the academic and social pressures facing today’s youth.
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and empathetic skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and school staff.
Ethical Practice: A firm commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
