A Taste of RCA is a four-week program in which students will have the opportunity to learn about theater, dance, music, and creative media taught by the teaching artists of RCA, a part-time arts magnet high school operated by CES. 

Positions Needed:

Camp Counselor:  We are seeking up to six RCA high school students to serve as camp counselors for the summer program.  Counselors must be students in good standing or immediate graduates of RCA in order to be considered.  We are seeking energetic, dedicated and mature students who will serve as assistants to the teachers as well counselors for the students.  Counselors will serve as role models for the campers and be able to maintain both a friendly and supervisory relationship with the campers.  Applicants must be available for the entire length of the program.  

Dates of Employment: July 7, 2025 for planning; Camp dates July 8 - July 31, 2025

Hours for Counselors:  Monday - Friday 8:45 AM - 1:15 PM or the equivalent of those hours; Campers will attend Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Dance Instructor:  Professional experience as a dancer or choreographer and a demonstrated ability to teach young people. A focus of the program wil be on CONTEMPORARY DANCE forms including hip hop.  Teacher will need to be able to differentiate for a wide variety of skills.

Music Instructor:  The instructor would teach classes in various aspects of music including the ability to teach on a variety of instruments, rhythm and percussion, basic music theory taught in a fun and engaging manner and the ability to creatively teach music using found instruments.  

Musical Theatre Instructor:  Instructor will teach group performance techniques for musical theatre.  The ideal candidate should have professional experience in musical theatre, ability to teach singing and movement, and be able to engage students in an introduction to what it means to be in a musical.  

Theater Instructor:  The instructor will work with campers to increase their ability to use their body and voice to express their creativity.  Teacher may use improvisation, basic scene study, character development exercises and theatre games in order to help students understand how actors prepare for a performance.  

Media Instructor:  Instructor will teach the fundamentals of media arts. The ideal candidate should have professional experience with video and audio production, as well as experience or familiarity with virtual and interactive media.  The teacher will teach classes in the fundamentals of video production and guide the students in applying their skills in at least one public display of their work.

 
Dates of Employment: July 7, 2025 for planning; Camp dates July 8 - July 31, 2025

Hours for Instructors:  Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM; Students will attend Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities:  Plan instruction and teach assigned classes, create and administer assessments, maintain accurate records of student attendance and achievement, collaborate with other members of the RCA faculty, attend staff meetings, communicate with parents, and other assigned duties. 

RCA is a part time interdistrict magnet high school committed to bring together people of diverse cultural heritage to develop in all students the knowledge, skills, attitudes and self-discipline to reach their fullest artistic potential, to live a productive life and to contribute to society as creative engaged citizens.

We are looking for performing arts teachers to act as a substitute while a current staff member is not available.  The time frame will vary based upon the need of the school. The instructor would teach classes in their area of expertise on Monday through Thursday from 12:45 - 4:45.  Teachers should be willing and able to work with students with a variety of abilities and experience levels.  The successful candidate should have at least a Bachelor’s degree, professional experience as a performer and a demonstrated ability to teach young people.
