Position Summary:
Assists a certified teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment; assists in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans; and provides routine support. Performs all duties under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination of the K-12 ESL program
- Assist with the scheduling of services with children
- Assist with parent/teacher conferences of ESL families
- Assist with the ESL program in any area requested by the ESL coordinator
- Provide push-in and pull-out English Language Services as needed
- Attend relevant EL training
- Collaborate with classroom teachers in implementing EL services
- Attend EL Department meetings
- Supervision of students during non-instructional times, such as emergency drills, assemblies, cafeteria, restrooms, hallways, playground, and during bus loading/unloading activities
- Ensure the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures; maintain the learning environment in a safe, orderly, and clean manner
- Adhere to all District policies
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Ability to demonstrate competency in the areas of developmentally appropriate programming and daily classroom management
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 60 college hours required on transcript - OR - successfully pass the Paraprofessional Proficiency Assessment
- Bilingual preferred
- Successful completion of all background checks
Contract Days: 180 days
