Job Purpose: The Dean of Students serves as a member of the administrative team of the school. The Dean of Students supports the mission of the school by embracing the Dominican charism, ensuring a strong program of student discipline and providing guidance and attention to students and faculty. This position primarily deals with the needs, concerns, and activities of students in all areas other than academic. The Dean of Students reports directly to the Principal and has a consultative relationship with the academic dean, dean of faculty, campus minister, admissions director and athletic director. This person is a member of the Faculty/Staff Advisory Committee.

Faith, Community, and Dominican Charism
· Ensure that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted among the school community.
· Develop an active faith community and model Christian values.
· Support prayer and spiritual formation within the student, faculty/staff, and parent communities.
· Uphold and implement the Dominican charism and the Houston Dominican Sisters’ congregational goals.

Main Responsibilities:
Discipline
· Provide leadership and direction so that good order and discipline is maintained
· Supervise the Dean of Students Team. Collaborate and coordinate all discipline situations when appropriate
· Enforce the school regulations as stated in the handbook
· Work with and supervise faculty regarding classroom management and discipline
· Assign and supervise detentions and after-school detentions with the associate dean of students.
· Keep records of all infractions and disciplinary actions
· Establish behavioral contracts as needed and work with family during probationary period
· Oversee and train members of the discipline board. Call and manage discipline board hearings as needed. Meet with students, parents and counselors to prepare for board hearings
· Work with students, teachers, counselors and parents to address discipline issues

 Attendance
· Oversee attendance. Supervise the attendance coordinator who handles daily attendance, maintains the attendance files, monitors the attendance calendar and manages tardy violations
· Enforce all attendance policies and give appropriate consequences for unexcused absences when needed
· Run attendance reports per week to ensure all students are within the limits of the TEA threshold.
· Notify students and parents of excessive absences. Meet with student and counselor to discuss excessive absences. Issue attendance probation and contracts where needed
· Meet with students and parents who have extenuating circumstances or illnesses and monitor cases
· Approve all field trips or school activities, and review list of students attending

Social-Emotional Counseling
· Supervise the Director of Student Support and support the members of their team
· Support the wellness counselors in dealing with students and families with social- emotional issues
· Enforce the counselor’s recommendations for outside treatment as a condition of enrollment
· Coordinate with counselors and academic dean regarding students withdrawing with intent to return
· Collaborate on student and parent programing with the wellness counselors
· Schedule and lead regular wellness case management meetings

Drug and Alcohol Testing
· Oversee the school’s policy for both random and suspicion-based drug testing
· Maintain all supplies for drug testing and alcohol breathalyzing. Maintain supplies for the “dance kit” for all dances
· Keep informed of trends in drug and alcohol abuse amongst teenagers. Maintain a list of referrals for drug and alcohol treatment programs in accordance with the Wellness Department.
· Meet with students and parents who incur drug and alcohol violations. Oversee discipline contracts for students with violations
   
Programming and Student Activities
· Coordinate with the director of student activities and/or the student council sponsors on all school sponsored events
· Assist director of student activities and class sponsors with class elections
· Select and appoint class sponsors in conjunction with director of student activities. Support class sponsors with their jobs as needed. Assist class sponsors with any conflicts that may arise with student leaders
· Work with student council to provide student activities that promote student involvement and increase school spirit. Supervise pep rallies
· Work with senior sponsor and leadership on Welcome Week. Work with seniors and their sponsors on proposed senior privileges for FSAC review. Supervise all Welcome Week activities
· Assist director of student activities with all clubs. Act as a resource person for all sponsors of student activities. Publish annually a description of all clubs and their officers. Approve new clubs
· Attend Prom, Orientation Dance, and Winter Formal. Work with junior class sponsors on Prom decisions and with STUCO advisors on Winder formal. Update contracts for the Winter Formal and Prom
· Plan and coordinate with the Principal’s Team Veritas Vacation Day
· Plan and coordinate with a committee Celebrate SAA assembly 

Administrative
· Maintain the master calendar for all activities. Keep faculty apprised of all schedule changes and work with Jesuit to keep calendars coordinated
· Submit items for Tiger Tracks and Tiger Block Talk when needed
· Revise and publish annually the student handbook policy handbook. Manage contracts and coordinate deadlines with handbook publishers
· Act as a liaison with administrative assistant to the principal with outside resources on class rings, graduations announcements, caps & gowns, and school uniforms
· Communicate with students and faculty pertinent information such as early dismissal or late arrival days, assembly dress days, etc.
· Coordinate all emergency drills and crisis management issues with the associate dean of students
· Oversee the updating and distribution of the crisis management plan
· Assist the director of student activities with the organization of Tiger Camp. Assist as needed with transfer student
· Attend all Principal’s Team and full admin meetings, as well as annual administrative planning retreats
· Give presentations at Parent Events when needed
· Serve as an ambassador and assist as needed at Follow Your Daughter’s Schedule, Open House and Incoming 9th Grade Registration

Clinic
· Oversee the clinic
· Supervise the school nurse who monitors the clinic, orders supplies, and maintains the health records

Required Qualifications:
· Commitment to embrace the mission of St. Agnes Academy
· Minimum of a four-year B.A./B.S. degree in Education, Counseling or related field (Master’s level preferred)
· Track record of working with students effectively and behavior intervention
· At least 5 years’ experience working with students, particularly in a leadership capacity; prior high school experience (preferable)
· Proven leadership skills and experience

Job Purpose:
The Director of Student Support oversees both the Wellness Center and the Student Support Center, maintains the school’s vision and philosophy for student support on campus, and supervises the wellness counselors and academic support staff.

The Student Support Center provides a place for students with various learning differences to attain skills in study techniques, time management, organizational strategies and goal planning, as well as providing reasonable accommodations for students to ensure their full participation in the academic programs. The Center is also a source for all students to develop effective learning and academic strategies to help meet the curriculum demands of St. Agnes Academy. 
 
The Wellness Center works with students to help them succeed in both their academic and social-emotional development. Wellness counselors lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their programming to the school’s academic mission. They uphold the ethical and professional standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) with programming based on the ASCA National Model. 

The main responsibilities will include: 
Academic Supports
· Oversee and manage the Student Support team including the Lead Learning Support Specialist, and the Academic Support Coordinator. 
· Receiving and reviewing educational evaluations of students to determine if the testing is current and complete
· Reviewing the educational evaluations of students to determine appropriate accommodations based upon the testing
· Meeting with students to implement a formal accommodation plan and discussing accommodations and self-advocacy skills
· Sharing the formal accommodation plan with each student’s teacher via mySAA
· Communicating with families when educational evaluation should be updated
· Keeping an updated list of appropriate evaluators for diagnostic needs of student and maintaining a professional working relationship with diagnosticians 
· Meeting with students when requested to determine effectiveness of accommodations and to implement any changes warranted
· Assisting students in understanding how they best learn/think and allowing the student to be the lead in the decision making, while guiding and supporting
· Assisting with transferring accommodations to colleges/universities by providing requested information
· When requested, writing letters of recommendation for students for college or service to give explanation for the accommodations and help clarify the specifics of the individual’s strengths and needs, based upon the diagnosis
· Communicating with parents and professionals, as needed
· Managing the teacher requests for students with special circumstances/needs
· Maintaining a current list of professional tutors for each subject area
· Being a resource for faculty/staff on gaining a better understanding of learning differences and how to implement effective strategies, including differentiation, in the classroom to meet all students’ needs 
· Oversee academic advising for 9th grade students
· Communicate with the AP Coordinator and the Academic Dean’s office to ensure the testing needs of accommodated students are being met. This may include working with the Academic Services Coordinator and Associate Learning            Support Specialist to ensure appropriate testing rooms are booked, testing proctors are procured, and that any special testing materials have been ordered and supplied to the accommodated student(s).  

Social Emotional Supports
· Oversee and manage the Wellness Counselors
· Consult with teachers about building classroom connections, effective classroom management, and the role of noncognitive factors in student success
· Analyze data to determine to create school-wide programming that aligns with student needs
· Oversee and provide short-term individual and small-group counseling services to students to promote the importance of self-care and balance in life
· Create a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential environment for students as they manage their academic and personal lives
· Implementing and overseeing the Freshman Seminar Program
· Maintain a caseload of students, as needed

Administrative Responsibilities
· Attend all Counselor-Admin Meetings
· Attend monthly department chair meetings, as necessary
· Attend Case Management meetings
· Lead Tier Review meeting
· Meet regularly with the Dean of Students
· Communicate and collaborate with the Academic Dean’s office 
· Participate in hiring of wellness counselors and learning support staff 
· Conduct professional development for faculty on learning differences, wellness related topics, and/or appropriate student accommodations.
· Work with the Dean of Students to determine and notify the wellness department members of the dates they will need to return to work in June/July. Typically, the department stays a few extra days in June and returns a few days prior to      the start of faculty/staff in-service. Extra summer days are included in wages.
· Other duties as it relates to position and as assigned by administration.

Required Qualifications:
· Commitment to embracing the mission of St. Agnes Academy
· Master’s degree or higher in school counseling or substantial equivalent and meet licensure and credentialing requirements 
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Forms 
· Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
· Strong interpersonal skills in relating to multiple audiences, including students, parents, and  educators with grace, competence, and warmth
· Knowledge of placement, assessment, and standardized testing tools

· Collaborate with the Director of Communications to assess and introduce new product lines.
· Administer the donor basket program, preparing an estimated 30+ baskets annually for school events.
· Handle the processing of departmental sales within the school.
· Facilitate the sale of merchandise during special school events, which may involve travel to different event locations.
· Supervise and manage student workers as needed, providing guidance and support.
· Additional responsibilities may be assigned as by supervisor.

· Serve as system manager for and trainer of technology platforms including, but not limited to TurnItIn, Formative, Albert IO, Membean, and EdPuzzle. 

Required Qualifications
· Commitment to embrace the mission of St. Agnes Academy
· Minimum of a four-year B.A./B.S. degree
· 3 year teaching/media specialist/instructional technology experience
· Prior experience in a high school setting, preferred
· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
· Takes initiative, is detail oriented, and is highly organized
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365, particularly OneNote
· Willingness to learn other technologies as needed
· Professional attitude and appearance 
· Completion of Safe Haven training
