Position Summary
The position of Instructional Coach provides support in the areas of curriculum, instructional strategies to support student achievement in the classroom, aligned to the building and district strategic plans. Provides leadership, staff development, and instructional support to all instructional and support staff within the assigned building. Focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of research-based effective instruction. In addition, serve as a liaison between school and district initiatives and school-based implementation and support for administrators, teachers, and support staff. Work as a colleague with other staff members to support student learning in all content areas. Collaborate, learn from, and support other Instruction and Technology coaches within the district.
Terms of Employment: Teacher contract 184 days
Reports to: Directly to the assigned building principal and district curriculum director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the current state and national educational standards and best practice instructional strategies.
Knowledge of the process and strategies used in implementing instructional plans.
Ability to quickly acquire skills in computer, video, communication, and web based technologies, curriculum design, and instructional design and assessments.
Effectively educate/mentor others and establish and maintain positive, effective, and confidential working relationships with all stakeholders.
Effective time management, organizational skills, and initiative to prioritize work to meet the needs of others.
Ability to follow and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.
Model and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness by using digital age communication and collaboration tools with stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with teachers in composing effective standards-based content-lessons, while supporting and modeling for the teachers as they execute lessons within their classrooms.
Assist teachers with making instructional decisions based on assessment data and culturally responsive practices.
Model high-quality instructional practices.
Plan and implement job-embedded professional development and workshops around instruction and curriculum for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
Collaborate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of instructional materials.
Provide leadership in developing and implementing curriculum plans and serve on the building and/or district committee(s).
Participate in ongoing professional development related to job responsibilities and maintaining expertise in the field.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or curriculum director.
