IN THIS ROLE:
You will maintain a safe and clean learning environment for Whitmore Lake Public School students, employees and community. This includes but is not limited to:
Keeping facilities in clean and orderly condition, taking pride in your work.
Maintaining a courteous, friendly and business-like relationship with staff, students and the public.
Collaborating with maintenance, facility and athletic staff to schedule activities and repairs.
Properly using, caring for, storing and maintaining custodial equipment.
Making minor repairs to facility and equipment.
Performing additional work required for school and other organizations using school facilities.
Executing a "summer, holiday and break" heavy cleaning program including stripping and waxing floors and shampooing rugs.
Assisting with custodial assignments as a result of normal scheduling, absenteeism, special activity or projects.
Maintain necessary logs and records
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE NEED:
We are seeking an energetic team member to join our Trojan team and work collaboratively with custodial and maintenance staff. You will sweep, mop, vacuum floors, clean sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains, dust, clean and polish fixtures, scrub and disinfect restrooms and floors on a daily basis. You will wash windows both inside and out, assist with painting and comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste. You will also assist with building security at all times, and at the end of your shift, you will assist in locking up the building.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Ability to continuously stand/walk/bend/reach/stoop/kneel/crouch/lift, climb ladders, lift and transport heavy items up to 50 pounds, and properly operate tools/equipment necessary to perform required repairs.
Work involves regular exposure to cleaning solutions and disinfectants as well as exposure to dust, dirt, tight spaces, offensive odors, dampness, hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, adverse weather conditions, etc. when performing maintenance and repair work.
Ability to communicate and understand both verbal and written instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance or other related fields preferred.
