    Qualifications:
    • Current Occupational Therapist License issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
    • Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
    • Knowledge and experience with Google suite
    • Excellent communication skills

    Responsibilities:
    • Administers occupational therapy procedures and modalities for the purpose of achieving IEP/504 plan objectives.
    • Assesses students’ fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, sensory processing skills, and functional abilities (e.g.) perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.) for the purpose of determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment, appropriate assistive devices and/or school placement.
    • Utilize best practices for the application of assistive technology in line with student needs.
    • Serve as a collaborative member of Student Support Team in assigned buildings.
    • Serve as a member of IEP team to screen and to determine eligibility for occupational therapy services for the student.
    • Complete observations, evaluations, and reevaluations of assigned students (as needed) and prepare a hard-copy of the evaluation report in a timely manner. Present results at a team meeting and assist in development of educational program and recommendations.
    • Research resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing student’s functional goals.
    • Develop and implement therapeutically based interventions and strategies and adapt equipment in collaboration with the educational team to carry out IEP goals and any other planning for student programming.
    • Obtain parental consent for OT evaluation and signed physician’s referral for each student prior to the initiation of service.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with appropriate team members as to progress/status of students being served.
    • Assess student’s current program and goals annually and prepare written summaries with revised goals.
    • Maintain parent contact to give suggestions for home management, intervention activities, and reinforcement of the student’s emerging abilities (via regular phone contact, a communication log, and/or regular progress notes).
    • Recommend and/or design adaptive equipment for students as needed. Consult with teachers and other team members regarding the educational needs of the students served and provide suggestions for classroom activities.
    • Maintain updated class lists and a weekly schedule of students served. Provide all school offices and supervisors with a finalized weekly schedule.
    • Maintain daily attendance logs, data, and/or evidence.
    • Attend assigned meetings such as Student Support Team meetings.
    • Record and report services delivered and related time for Medicaid reimbursement purposes.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education Services.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate student sensory diets. Provide education to teachers and paraprofessionals regarding student sensory processing needs.
    • Collaborate with outside professionals as needed.
