Qualifications:             
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Middle School Science Endorsement
• Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
• Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience preferred or relevant coursework within the last 3 years
• Experience with English/Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program is preferred
• Fluent Spanish speaker preferred
• Knowledge and experience with Google suite

Responsibilities:
• Implement the district’s curriculum and instructional practices that align with the Board of Education standards
• Engage in continuous professional development designed to improve instruction
• Follow the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education and the Illinois School Code
• Create an effective and attractive learning environment for students
• Maintain an effective learning atmosphere that promotes standards and behavior appropriate to the students’ grade level 
• Lead students in planning and implementing a personal fitness program that develops better health and fitness
• Maintain knowledge of techniques and strategies that ensure safe participation in a range of physical activities
• Develop lesson plans and requisition instructional materials that provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, working time, and reflection; while maintaining required inventory records
• Incorporate appropriate grade level technologies into the physical education experience
• Instruct students on proper techniques (i.e. forms, proper stance, game strategies, etc.) and safe use of equipment
• Cooperate with other PE teachers on strategies, techniques and implementation of physical education curriculum goals
• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to integrate physical education activities into other curricular areas
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities 
• Communicate with parents on an on-going basis and be an advocate for the physical education program. (i.e. articles in the school newsletter, performances, phone calls, person-to-person)
• Regularly evaluate pupils' academic and social personal growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
• Identify student needs and work with other employees to help solve student health, attitude and learning problems
• Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the assigned workday
• Participate in curriculum development programs, staff committees and sponsorship of student activities as required
• Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Building Administrator

Responsibilities:
• Teach elementary content in Spanish
• Have fluency and literacy in both English and Spanish
• Collaborate in the development, articulation, and implementation, of our Dual Language Immersion elementary program
• Understand the core purposes of the Dual Language Program and research behind the program’s effectiveness
• Work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially and linguistically diverse.
• Be familiar with or be willing to acquire knowledge of language immersion models and curriculum
• Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction
• Assess student test performance results and develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the class including individualized and small group instruction as necessary in order to adapt the curriculum performance standards to the needs of each pupil
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
• Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on the individual pupil’s progress
• Learn and teach the district curriculum and best instructional practices for each content area as approved by the Board of Education.
• Seek continuous professional development by participating in district and building professional growth activities.
• Follow the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education and the Illinois School Code.
• Actively participate in the implementation of the district's mission and strategic plan and the school's site plan.
• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education and music to students in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Establish and maintain standards and student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom appropriate to the grade level of the students.
• Regularly evaluate pupils' academic and social personal growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Identify student needs and work cooperatively with other building and district personnel to assess and help student solves health, attitude and learning problems.
• Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Select and requisition books and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records. 
• Supervise students in out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in staff committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
•  Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
