Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Paraprofessional License
- Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
- Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience preferred or relevant coursework within the last 3 years
- Knowledge of common library media technology preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Google suite
- Ability to work well with students and staff
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities: - Coordinate curricular and instructional programs between the LRC and the classroom
- Facilitate the use of new technology to support learning
- Coordinate the management activities necessary to operate the LRC
- Assist teachers in planning educational experiences which integrate the curriculum
- Serve on appropriate district and building committees and councils as needed related to curriculum and instruction issues
- Link classroom activities with the broader community and world
- Assist staff to provide options to support all students with special needs (i.e. "included" students, "gifted" students)
- Demonstrate knowledge about current children's literature and research sources
- Provide information to teachers in the selection of materials to support their classroom activities
- Demonstrate and maintain knowledge about current technology
- Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for managing the functions of the LRC and instruct teachers and students on the use of the system
- Accommodate a variety of teaching and learning styles and the unique aspects of the learning community it serves for the purpose of providing a positive student-centered environment.
- Work with school staff to develop a schedule for the purpose of providing effective use of the library by individuals as well as groups (large and small).
- Develop and maintains a relevant collection of fiction and nonfiction in a variety of formats for the purpose of supporting the curriculum and engaging students while exposing them to an array of ideas, cultures, and perspectives through quality literature.
- Expand access to information through the use of online resources for the purpose of providing access to electronic resources 24/7.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and colleagues for the purpose of integrating critical thinking skills, information literacy, and technology skills into the grade level curriculum.
- Develop lessons that empower students to become critical thinkers who can comprehend, analyze, and evaluate text in both print and digital formats for the purpose of addressing multiple literacies.
- Actively promotes reading and library use through such activities as storytelling, book talks, displays, reading programs, and special events for the purpose of motivating and encouraging independent reading for pleasure and understanding
- Train and coordinate LRC staff in the performance of their duties
- Network the LRC and other information gathering organizations
- Evaluate, select and requisition new LRC materials
- Develop and coordinate a volunteer program to support LRC functions
- Work cooperatively with other district LRC personnel
- Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Building Administrator
