Peotone CUSD 207U is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant at Peotone Pre-K and Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year. Duties:
Direct Student Support: - Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students under the supervision of an SLP.
- Implement individualized education program (IEP) goals and therapy plans as developed by the supervising SLP.
- Assist with speech and language screenings and assessments.
- Document student progress and report findings to the SLP.
Collaboration and Communication: - Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student communication needs in the classroom.
- Assist in developing and implementing classroom-based communication strategies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to school policies and professional ethics.
Administrative & Preparation Duties: - Prepare therapy materials, schedules, and maintain records in compliance with school and state guidelines.
- Participate in professional development and training as required by the district.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift, move, and position students as needed for therapy sessions.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the school campus.
Work Environment: - School setting with regular interaction with students, teachers, and parents.
- May require travel between school sites within the district
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, Communication Disorders, or related field.
Valid SLPA license/certification as required by the state.
Experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices is a plus.

Hourly Wage Starting at $30.00 per hour
Annual salary is regionally competitive with consideration of previous, relevant experience. Peotone CUSD 207U Board of Education pays the partial employee share of IMRF, 100% of the health insurance costs for the employee, and provides a $50,000 life insurance policy.
