Note: This position is a 10-Month Work Contract, working August – May of the school year.
Description:
Provide Tulsa Technology Center students instruction in English, Social Studies, Math, Science and testing skills needed to support successful completion of Oklahoma high school graduation requirements, and entry into the workplace or higher education, in a manner that is consistent with District Core Values.
Essential Functions:
- Create an optimal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of classroom decorum.
- Create, plan and organize instructional materials, modify (update) lesson plans and instruct students in all subject area studies using using current instructional strategies to assure highest quality classroom instruction.
- Collaborate to devise appropriate academic intervention measures to effect maximum student retention and program completion.
- Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by District policy and certification agencies.
- Collaborate with instructors to develop Academic Curriculum that directly pertains to OSDE Academic Standards.
- Organize and/or coordinate miscellaneous projects/assignments in support of the campus activities.
- Continue to develop professional expertise in educational methodology and learning strategies as well as in industry-specific topics through attendance/participation at conferences, professional development training, professional associations and industry events.
- Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervisor and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the work group or worksite.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provision of services. Interpret and implement policies in a manner consistent with the interests of the District. Provide advice and consultation to executive management as requested. Investigate and resolve issues, as needed, represent the department and District in a professional manner to all.
Job Requirements:
- This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as an educator with specific experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level. Preference will be given to those with experience with at-risk youth, teaching on-line computer instruction and teaching advanced mathematics.
- Must have an Oklahoma Teaching Certification with Secondary Mathematics endorsement.
- Having a secondary endorsement in Science, Social Studies and/or English is a plus.
- Valid state issued driver's license
- Bilingual is a plus
Education:
Bachelor's degree, as well as Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education with Mathematics endorsement.
Salary Schedule:
10 Month Instructor
Hiring Range:
$65,154 to $68,979 annually dependent on experience and education, plus additional $9,000 compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
