  •   STARTING SALARY: $18.27+ per hour (based on experience) 

    This position is full time, 8 hours per day (3 pm - 11:30 pm), Monday through Friday, year round.  The position comes with paid time off, paid vacation, paid holidays and is benefit eligible. 

    Purpose of Position

    The purpose of this position is to clean and maintain school classrooms, halls, and other areas as assigned.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
     
    • Cleans classrooms, halls, locker rooms, bathrooms and other areas as assigned
    • Replenishes supplies in paper and soap dispensers
    • Dusts furniture; cleans and polishes fixtures
    • Cleans windows
    • Removes trash and other refuse
    • Assists in preparing areas for meetings and other activities
    • Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance to buildings and equipment
    • Performs various seasonal jobs including snow removal
    • Secures building
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds
    Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
    High school graduate with five to eleven months custodial experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

    Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
     Physical Requirements
    • Ability to operate a variety of custodial equipment including vacuum cleaner, floor buffer, carpet extractor, mower, etc.
    • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Must have current physical on file with the district certifying applicant is able to meet all job qualifications
     Mathematical Ability
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate decimals and percents.
     Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
    • Ability to comprehend, interpret and/or prepare a variety of documents, including work orders, time cards, building use permits, maintenance requests, custodial handbook, boiler handbook, equipment manuals, MSDS, building maps and specifications, etc.
    • Ability to prepare a variety of documents including daily work log, time cards, material requests, work requests, etc., using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
    • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow instructions
    • Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, administrators, service technicians, custodial staff, sales representatives, delivery persons, police officers, School Board members, nurses, the general public, and others verbally and in writing
     Environmental Adaptability
    • Ability to work effectively outdoors under a variety of conditions
