Job Summary:
The ESY School Social Worker provides support services to students with disabilities to enhance social-emotional well-being, assist with behavioral needs, and ensure a successful ESY experience.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
• Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to students as outlined in their IEPs.
• Conduct social skills instruction in small groups or one-on-one as needed.
• Collaborate with ESY teachers, paraeducators, and related service providers.
• Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
• Maintain documentation of student progress and participation.
• Communicate with parents/guardians as necessary.
 
Qualifications:

• Collect and maintain accurate data on student performance and behavior as directed.

• Collaborate with the special education teacher, therapists, and other team members to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Assist with classroom management, including implementing structured routines and supporting students in transitions.

• Support students with self-care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, as necessary.

• Utilize communication supports such as PECS, AAC devices, and other assistive technology as needed.

• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies as trained.

• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions related to ABA principles and special education best practices.

Qualifications:
 
• Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field preferred.

• Certifications: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred or special education educator endorsement or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
