GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: |
Under the leadership of building administration and consultation from the Department of Administrative Services, this position is responsible for monitoring student behavior during the school day. Acts as supervisor of students in a variety of settings. Operate security cameras and radio communication systems. Performs responsible human support work assisting school administrators and classroom teachers by assisting with monitoring students in various locations; does related work as required. |
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS: |

Serves as monitor of student attendance, behavior, and student transition. Holds students, staff, and visitors accountable for school policy. Monitors halls, lunchroom and entire building for rules compliance. Manages students during lunch (behavior issues will be referred to the teacher or building administrator according to guidelines established by the individual school site); Encourages good table manners, students’ personal accountability for their dining area; and appropriate noise levels; Participates in training sessions and meetings Delivers student messages; Communicates with students and school staff in a professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills; Communicates with appropriate staff on attendance and behavior issues or concerns; Checks student bathrooms and other areas for unauthorized activities; Assist with daily weapons checks and other security measures. WORK ENVIRONMENT: |
Primarily indoor supervision with occasional outside work. Dresses appropriately for the school environment. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Enforces policies in a fair, firm and consistent manner. |
