Job Summary
The Operations Manager, Event Center provides for the overall events and program operations, scheduling, and utilization of Provident Credit Union Event Center based on the Scheduling Guidelines approved by VPSA, Athletics Director, and CFO. Responsibilities include event booking and scheduling, facility management, event management, supervision of facility and equipment, reporting and submitting work orders for maintenance and repair, custodial services managed by FDO.
The position reports to, and receives general supervision and direction from the Executive Director.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
• Under general supervision, assists Director of the Event Center with service requirements for events to include venue prep, strike, conversions, cleaning, parking, security, ushering, public safety, medical and any other contracted and non-contracted services.
• Assists the Director of the Event Center with the day-to-day programming and operation of Provident Credit Union Event Center
• Keeps accurate records of days and times for practices, game day operations, staffing hours, and vendor; assist the Director with event settlements
• Works with Technical Production staff on coordination of operations and production requirements for each event to include advancing events as assigned by the Director.
• Performs regular facility inspections, coordinates any maintenance needs and repairs with Facilities, Development and Operations (FD&O).
• Direct supervision and oversight for the Student Operations Supervisors.
• Ensures coordination with outside service contractors and vendors as appropriate to meet programming and customer needs
• Assist the Director on Risk Management with establishing safety policies, procedures, including the development, training and administering of the EAP.
•  Insures all staff CPR, First Aid, forklift, certification for staff and maintains files with HR
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Adheres to compliance laws, policies and codes related to not- for-profit corporations, facility safety and concerns, as well as state and CSU mandates.
• Implements procedures to identify and correct potentially hazardous or unsafe working conditions. Mitigates risk where appropriate through knowledge of policies and procedures.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of event management and public assembly in an arena environment
• Works with the contractors and FD&O to coordinate and oversee daily and event custodial services.
• Ability to effectively communicate, written and verbally, and interact with a variety of venue clients including guests, event presenters, operational personnel, on-campus departments, third-party subcontractors, supervisors, co-workers, and employees.

Job Summary
The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day aquatic operations at the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center (SRAC). Areas of oversight include open recreation swim, pool deck activities, swim practices, lap swim, training and mentoring lifeguards and swim instructors, supervision of youth and adult swim lessons, and special event coordination. The position reports to, and receives general supervision and direction from the Aquatics Manager.

Essential Functions and Tasks
• Oversight of daily operations of aquatic areas including recreation swim, pool deck activities, swim practices, lap swim, athletics, club sport practices and community swim.
•  Hires, trains, and supervises student assistants working as lifeguards, swim lesson instructors or other aquatic personnel.
•  Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises, coordinates, reviews, and evaluates swim lesson programs, including: staff training, budget, recruitment, registration, staffing, and program assessment.
•  Maintain records regarding safety inspections, water chemistry, staff training, certifications, and maintenance. Ensures all staff certifications are valid, current, and tracked accurately.
•  Ensures staff observe and comply with all mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
•  Maintains safety and emergency policies and procedures in collaboration with the Aquatics Manager that are in compliance with industry and university standards.
•  Create and maintain work schedules for student staff employees.
•  Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the following: Department of Kinesiology, Intercollegiate Athletics, Facilities Services, Student Life and Leadership, Associated Students and other departments as appropriate.
•  Assists with development and oversight of aquatic operations and swim lessons budget.
•  Oversight of special events in the pool area including set-up, clean-up, and strike down.

The Outdoor Adventures and Rental Center Supervisor is responsible for the programs and services of Outdoor Adventure programs and Outdoor Rental Center operations. • Process payroll and related personnel matters for all staff in a timely manner.
• Develops, maintains, and is fiscally responsible for the Outdoor Recreation and Rental Center Program budgets.
• Develops emergency procedures, safety practices, and risk management procedures designed for high risk outdoor and indoor activities, travel, and maintenance of equipment with inventory for security and safety according to industry standards.
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the following: Department of Kinesiology, Facilities Services, Student Life and Leadership, Associated Students and other departments as appropriate.

The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at  San José State University in downtown San José, California. Job Summary 
The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for the first point of contact for clients and guests in  an event space. They perform services such as the setup, operation, and strike of event spaces,  audio, lighting, video, staging, electrical and/or other technical equipment, and provides high  quality, efficient, and effective production of events within SU Facilities and other indoor/outdoor campus locations. Under direct supervision of the Assistant Manager, performs  AV technical services and maintenance as assigned.
 
 
Essential Functions and Tasks 
 
• Provides AV support, services and resources including but not limited to set up, strike,  and operation of audio, lighting, video, staging, electrical, and/or other technical equipment. 
• Supervises use of SU audio visual technical equipment by campus or outside groups  during events. 
• Assists clients, guests, and/or other SU staff in operation of audiovisual systems.  
• Assists in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of technical systems and equipment.
• Assists in training of other Audio-Visual Technicians and/or other SU staff in the operation of technical systems, including safety, and in monitoring of performance. 
• Assist Student Union Event Services team members in supporting all special event  programs and services
• Assist SU Operations team in the implementation of the protocols for safety, security  building patrons during SU building events. 
• Participates in meetings as needed for the purpose of conveying and gathering information required to perform job functions. 
• Assist the Director of Facilities to report maintenance concerns and damage to equipment  and resources. 
• Works with SUI Student Success and Assessment team to ensures learning outcomes are  developed and assessed annually for the student staff.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) 
 
• Basic understanding of sound, lighting, and video systems. 
• Basic understanding of electricity, including electrical theory and safety.
• Basic understanding of staging and rigging principles and safety procedures. 
• Basic computer skills and basic understanding of Microsoft Office preferred. 
• Maintains professional attitude and conduct at all times as a customer service example for  event clients and guests, and for other Event Services and Student Union staff.  
• Ability to rapidly acquire and develop skills and an ability to follow directions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 
 
• The position works in a wide variety of environments including both a typical office as  well as an outdoors and indoor facility program-oriented environment.

  • Sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.  
  • Twisting, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, squatting, crawling, kneeling, balancing, reaching, and coordination (eye, hand, foot).

Minimum Qualifications  
 
• Requires an Associate of Arts, Science or General Studies degree with a minimum of  1 year of experience in technician role and responsible for technical assignments. 
• 1-2 years’ experience in customer service-based environment. 
• Current CPR/First Aid and AED certifications required or must be obtained within the  first month of employment.  
• A strong ear for sound variants and technical aptitude. 
• Scissor and Fork/High Lift certification. during first six months of employment. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
 
• Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years previous experience with live event production strongly  preferred 
• Advanced knowledge of AV services and technical application of equipment. 
• 2 years’ experience in customer service-based environment.

Job Summary 
Under general supervision of the Event Services Manager, the Supervisor of the Scheduling  Event and Ticket Office is responsible for the scheduling, clerical and administrative functions  for the SRAC, Event Center and other locations. Oversees and coordinates the Student Union,  Inc. Box Office operations to include event day activities as required including social media and  marketing efforts as directed.


 
Essential Functions and Tasks 
 
• Consults with SRAC and Event Center users and customers concerning space reservation  needs to determine suitability of space(s) for requested activities, and assigns rooms in  the SRAC facility, Event Center, and non-academic spaces in other campus locations as  needed. 
• Informs clients regarding spaces assigned, policies and procedures, and deadlines relative  to reservations processes, verbally and or in writing. 
• Notifies appropriate Manager, Supervisors and or users regarding coordination of event  needs for space reservations. 
• Meets with customers regarding use of room space, including planning, and confirming  room dimensions. May on occasion assist with preparation of cost estimates.
• Produces event daily operations reports for SRAC & EC operations staff and other users
• Compiles lists of individuals and groups requesting activity space in the SRAC & EC  building. 
• Maintains records of available space, space used, and cancellations.
•  Manages ticket selling operations for the Student Union Box Office.
• Hires, Trains and supervises student assistants for the Student Union Box Office.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service, promptly responds to all customer needs.
• Works with the SU graphics team for Box office ticket sales content for the Student  Union, Inc. and social media platforms. 
• Ensures strict adherence to all Student Union cash handling and accounting policy  procedures. 
• Act as onsite Box Office representative on day of events for all ticketing needs, including  staffing if required and ensuring proper operation of event ticket changes, modifications  and sales. 
• Prepares reports and all information needed for the ticket sales settlement on event days. • Accurately records the daily transactions and completes the daily deposits for the SU Box  Office on event days in a timely manner, according to the Student Union accounting  policy and procedures. 
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
