General Function:
Supports the Principal to provide a safe learning environment and a high-quality curriculum.  Assists the Principal in implementing and managing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Provides instructional leadership for teachers to improve students’ academic achievement.
 
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum:  Master’s level degree in related field and three (3) years of experience in teaching and/or administration required.  Must hold or be able to obtain an Administrative License in the state of New Mexico.  Specific requirements are referenced on Public Education Department website.  www.ped.state.nm.us    Experience in curriculum development.  Successful performance in the position held at the time of application. 2. Work in partnership with the Athletic Director to maintain, organize and administer the athletic program at the assigned high school.
3. Supervises the site Athletic Department Manager.
4. Works with the Athletic Director and Athletic Manager to schedule and cancel games as necessary.
5. Reviews and enforces the physical, academic and training policy requirements of eligibility for student participation.
6. Ensures compliance with NMAA, Title IX and district policies, rules and regulations.
7. Approves the hiring of assistant coaches that have been interviewed and recommended for hire by Head Coach and/or a committee chaired by the Head Coach.
8. Co-evaluates Head Coaches, along with the Athletic Director with input from the high school principal.
9. Participates with social, parent, professional, civic, volunteer and other community agencies with interest in school athletics to foster good relationships.
10. Provides input to Athletic Director regarding the revisions to the District Athletic Handbook and related documents.
11. Other duties as assigned.
 
Salary Range:
$75,000 to $85,000+

Physical/Cognitive Requirements: 
Lifting of heavy musical equipment, not limited to portable acoustic shells, choir risers, music stands, sound systems, chairs, etc. Duties performed typically in school settings include band room, classrooms, gym, auditorium, and recreational areas, both at home and away events. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, up to approx. 40lbs, and occasional lifting of equipment such as band equipment weighing up to approx. 50 lbs may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips and various performances may be necessary. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas utilizing the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, and hazards. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular instruction to special needs students may be necessary. Regular contact with students to provide a positive learning environment is required. Contact with administrators, staff members, parents, and community members is required. Environmental Conditions: 
Duties performed typically in school settings include band rooms, classrooms, gyms, auditoriums, and recreational areas, both at home and away events. High school directors expected to teach marching band will be subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, noise, and hazards.

General Function:
Provides direct instruction to students identified for special education instructional services to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development.
 
Education/Training/Experience
(Basic minimum requirements are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the District.)
Minimum:  Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.  New Mexico Special Education teaching license with Gifted Endorsement.
Preferred:  Completion of Student teaching or Internship program.  At least one year’s previous teaching experience.

Essential Job Functions

1. Meets and instructs assigned classes/students in inclusive and separate settings and for the time as designated in the IEP and by the school administrator.
2. Provides direct instruction to students to meet the specified IEP annual goals and short term objectives for each student, as well as the general curriculum goals and objectives.
3. Documents and communicates pupil progress to parents, regular classroom teachers, and other appropriate personnel.
4. Participates in parent-teacher conferences.
5. Ensures an orderly learning environment through effective teaching and management practices.
6. Employs a variety of instructional techniques to address the needs and capabilities of the individual or students involved.
7. Teaches district-approved curriculum.

22. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
23. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with building administrators, other building teachers, and related services personnel and support personnel.
24. Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
25. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
26. Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
27. Plans and supervises the purposeful assignment for the Educational Assistant(s) and volunteers and provide evaluative data regarding their job performance.
Salary Range:
Based on education, experience, and level of NM Teaching License. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available to full and part-time employees that work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements: 
Continuous speaking, hearing, and visual effort. Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and reaching. Occasional climbing, kneeling, and transporting up to 50 lbs. May be required to work with students and /or equipment related to hygiene, toileting, feeding, or therapy purposes.

Most work is performed indoors. Work involves irregular hours and days.  Travel from location to location may be necessary.  Environment may be hectic with frequent interruptions and noise.  May be exposed to bodily fluids.
