Assistant Wrestling Coach

Stipend opportunities - $3,018 to be paid at the end of the wrestling season 2024-2025

• Acts under the direction of the Head Coach and  Athletic Director.
• Assumes functions and duties of the head coach in their absence.
• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for effective performance in the activity, as individuals & team members.
• Plans and directs a regular program of practice in season.
• Maintains competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques for the sport/activity.
• Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly when disciplining participants.
• Coordinates freshman participants at interscholastic competition and in practice. •
 Supervises student athletes when traveling.
• Oversees the safety conditions for students and facility, and the areas in which the sport is conducted during all times students are present.
• Demonstrates cooperative conduct.
• Shares in responsibility for equipment, distribution, collection and inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledgeable in the techniques and strategies for the sport/activity.
• Background/experience in coaching high school wrestling, or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to follow both oral and written directions & instructions from the head coach and/or athletic director. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and the community.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
• Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
• Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
• Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the athletic director.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in the content area or enrolled in a program leading towards obtaining such degree. 

• Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in English or a valid Colorado Substitute Teaching License and enrolled in a program working toward alternative licensure (must upload license or in process documentation to application).

JOB GOAL:              
 To develop in each student the skill of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to good communication and literate citizenship; to develop appreciation of good literature of all types; to motivate students to read widely for information and recreation; to develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media; to discover and develop special talents of pupils in the field of English.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.         Teach content and skills in English language, literature, composition, reading, and journalism to secondary students, using courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
2.         Adapt English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignment that guide and challenge students.
3.         Select and requisition books and instructional aids appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students; maintain required inventory records.
4.         Adapt the curriculum to provide individual, small group or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student.
5.         Develop standards for critical analysis through group discussions based on a variety of mass media and classical and contemporary literature.
6.         Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
7.         Evaluate each student's progress in English skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
8.         Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
9.         Identify student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
10.       Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
11.       Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
12.       Administer or monitor group tests.
13.       Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
14.       Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
15.       Maintain professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.

POSITION:  Special Education Teacher for RE-1 Valley School District will provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify
curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Must be willing to work in a collaborative environment to meet the needs of children with a wide variety of needs.

Duties And Responsibilities:
 
• Shall be knowledgeable about strategies planning practices, assessment techniques and appropriate accommodations to ensure student learning in a standards-based classroom.
• Knowledgeable in literacy and mathematics and an expert in their content endorsement area.
• Shall enhance content instruction with a thorough understanding of District and State content standards.
• Integrate literacy into content area instruction.
• Knowledgeable about classroom practice in order to successfully facilitate the learning environment, manage time, communications, and record keeping procedures that will support and enhance student learning.
• Communicates with students, families, and colleagues concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
• Employs a wide range of teaching techniques to match the intellectual, emotional, and social level of each student, and chooses alternative teaching strategies and materials to achieve different curricular purposes.
• Collects data on individual student achievement and is accountable for each child's learning.
• Shall be knowledgeable about student electronic databases and grading software.
• Review and apply individualized education programs.
• Shall be skilled in technology and is knowledgeable about using technology to support instruction and enhance student learning in a standards-based classroom.
• Upholds all policies, rules and regulations, standards, and expectations that may be established by the state and federal authorities, and immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:               
1.  Paraeducators who provide instructional support must meet one of the following three academic requirements:
1. successfully pass the Work Keys test at the Silver level (contact the Sterling Workforce Center for testing/scheduling), or
2. 48 hours college credit, or
3. an associate's degree or higher.
2.         Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
