Act 91 of 2021 expands the minimum qualifications for substitute teachers in the public schools of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Act permits student teachers placed in a given district, who have met certain criteria during their student teaching placements, to be employed as per diem substitute teachers, on a limited basis, in their assigned school until their student teaching assignment is complete.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
1. Obtain preapproval from the Human Resources Office to apply
2. Submit the application for employment
3. Complete all onboarding requirements to be named an employee of the district

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
In order to be eligible for employment in Pennsylvania public schools, the following clearances, trainings, and forms are required by the Mt. Lebanon School District upon hire:
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114)
Act 126 Child/Student Abuse Recognition and Reporting
Arrest or Conviction Form (PDE 6004) (Act 24)
School Personnel Health Record (Physical with TB Test)
Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Information (Act 168)
