PURPOSE
Assists special education teacher with students in the Resource Room, Extended Resource Room, Positive Behavior Intervention Program, Early Childhood Special Education Program or Tuition Kindergarten program; performs related work as required. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide assistance to special education teachers in the Resource Room (RR), Extended Resource Room (ERR), Positive Behavior Intervention Program (PBI), Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program or Tuition Kindergarten (T-K) program, assisting in the implementation of students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The Paraprofessional works with students with a variety of mild to severe physical, emotional, and learning disabilities and may work with an individual student or groups of students, both in a separate classroom facility or facilitating inclusion into a regular classroom. The position is directly supervised by the assigned Special Education Teacher with overall supervision by the building Principal. The primary duties of the position are performed in a classroom environment and may include exposure to body fluids and some personal injury risk from student behaviors.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Provides assistance to special education teachers in the special education program;
• Assists teachers in implementing students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs);
• Assists teachers by preparing lesson plans and preparing, modifying, and adapting materials and presentations used in the classroom;
• Assists teachers in administering diagnostic, skills, and level testing;
• Assists students with classroom and homework assignments, tutoring, or other supplemental instruction;
• Assists students with socialization, personal hygiene, medications and physical therapy, nutritional, and related personal tasks as needed; 
• Assists students individually and/or in a group situation, both in a separate classroom learning facility or by facilitating inclusion into regular classrooms;
• Assists regular classroom teachers by preparing, modifying, and adapting classroom presentations and materials to assigned students;
• Assists teachers with classroom activities, classroom management, lesson plans, grading papers, clerical and record-keeping duties, creating and updating reports and files, and other documentation, as directed;
• Performs substitute teacher duties in the absence of the teacher;
• Assists teachers with clerical duties including, but not limited to, copying, inputting records and data into a computer, faxing, text and document preparation, and related duties;

Purpose
Performs routine Custodial work in school facilities; performs related work as required.
  Performance Responsibilities The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform routine custodial, maintenance, cleaning, and groundskeeping tasks in assigned school buildings and grounds. Additionally, an employee in this class may be assigned to other maintenance duties in District facilities. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian or Night Supervisor, depending on assigned shift; the custodian also takes direction and suggestions from the building principal and teachers to maintain a team approach. The primary duties of this class are performed in a public-school building environment and include use of limited electrically powered cleaning equipment and cleaning substances that may involve related hazards and outdoor work in inclement weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Sweeps and mops floors, including restrooms, classrooms, hallways, multi-purpose rooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias and food preparation areas, science and computer labs, art rooms, music classrooms, meeting rooms, and related rooms.
• Vacuums carpeted floors;
• Dusts and wipes off surfaces, including chalkboards and whiteboards;

PURPOSE
To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, social, and psychological growth and maturation.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The overall responsibility of this position has several components: plans and implements an instructional program that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students, consistent with the District's approved curriculum and teaching methodology; guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects by establishing and maintaining classroom lesson plans as well as substitute lesson plans.  This includes the instruction of students through lecture, demonstration, discussions, projects, practical activities, experiments, assignments, excursions, taking into account the differences in individual students; adaptation of  teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests; and remaining current with researched based teaching methodology and implementing such where appropriate in the classroom setting.   The teacher is responsible for creating a purposeful learning environment that is appropriate to the maturity and interest of students; organization of classroom materials such as handouts, audio-visuals and computer related lessons; organization of desks, bulletin boards, and student work areas; and for setting positive examples for students and colleagues. 
 
The teacher assesses the accomplishments of students on a formal and informal basis and provides progress reports as required; assigns related homework assignments; develops and administers formal testing and informal testing to ascertain student progress; grades homework and informal and formal testing of student progress; and administers individual and group standardized testing activities as required by the District and State of Idaho.  To aid in the evaluation of student needs, the teacher serves as a member of the Building Study Team in diagnosing specific learning needs of students and prescribing special programming, identifying the educational, social and developmental needs of students, participating in Special Education or related team meetings as requested.
 
Through communication and collaboration with colleagues, students and parent/guardians on a regular basis, the teacher actively listens in order to address needs of students, is patient in dealing with students with differing abilities, cultures, etc., and participates in parent-teacher conferences, making oneself available to communicate with parents/guardians regarding student related issues.  In supervising students, the teacher assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy; establishes rules for classroom discipline; observes student conduct and maintains classroom order and discipline; addresses observed inappropriate student conduct both within the classroom and in other school settings; and will confer with parents, guardians, other teachers, counselors and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.  In addition, this position plans and supervises teacher aides and volunteers as assigned.
 
The maintenance of accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation includes student attendance records, progress records, and records of classroom materials, supplies and textbooks.  The teacher takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities and is responsible for the knowledge of school evacuation procedures and lock-down procedures and the ability to implement those procedures independently in emergency situations.  This position reports to the principal, may supervise assigned classroom aides and volunteers, and performs other duties as assigned.
