JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
CAFETERIA WORKER
 
The Cafeteria Worker is responsible to assist in preparing and serving attractive, nutritious meals to students and staff in a clean, cheerful atmosphere.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to communicate well
• Good physical condition; i.e., able to stand, lift at least 40 pounds, and stoop for long periods
• Diplomatic, congenial manner; neat, well-groomed appearance
 REPORTS TO:
 
Cafeteria Manager

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Job functions shall include but not be limited to the following:
• Follow supervisor’s instructions in producing, portioning and serving food
• Organize food in an attractive manner for presentation and fast service
• Serve correct portions of food to students and staff in a friendly manner
• Ensure that during meal service periods the supply of food offered is replenished
• Store all food products to assure freshness and safety
• Clean and sanitize kitchen and service work areas daily utilizing all sanitary guidelines
• Perform major cleaning of all equipment and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as determined by the manager
• Assist with physical count of inventory, receiving of inventory and record keeping of inventory
• Maintains storeroom in orderly manner
• If cashiering, records all school lunch monetary transactions and checks/verifies lunch information
• Removes trash to pick-up area, maintains area in sanitary manner
• Must wear approved uniforms and appropriate non-skid shoes
• Any other related job duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or their designee.
 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• FLSA Status: Non-exempt
• “At-Will” position
• Full-time workers are employed 182 days and part-time workers are employed 180 days
• Salaries are established by Board policy
 EVALUATION:
 
Performance for this position will be evaluated annually by the Cafeteria Manager in accordance with the Board’s policies and procedures on evaluation

• Holds a MS 215 as a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. KNOWLEDGE,  SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual
development of students.
 
 
 
JOB  GOAL:                 To provide a comprehensive speech-language program for children whose communicative disorder adversely affects the child's educational performance.
RESPONSIBLE   TO:         Special Services Director
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• Implements a screening and referral process for the identification of students in need of service.
• Conducts comprehensive  speech-language assessments on all children referred.
• Obtains and uses diagnostic information from parents, school personnel, and various agencies regarding student performance and characteristics.
• Develops long- and short-range goals and objectives for students in need of services.
• Compiles and maintains appropriate student data records and progress reports.
• Implements a therapy program designed to meet the individual needs of students.
• Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development for keeping current with literature, new research findings, and improved techniques; and for attending appropriate professional meetings and/or conventions.
• Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, lEPs, parent conferences, pre- referral staffing, etc. for the purpose of presenting ealuation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff.
• Instructs assigned support staff for the purpose of providing information on communicative disorders, use of assistive devices and feeding techniques and/or implementing prescribed treatment plans.
• Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (Assistive Technology - e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
 
• Participates in MET meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Special Services Director, Principal, Superintendent and other Central Services Administrators  as designated  by the Superintendent
