Job Summary: The Alternative school teacher is responsible for coordinating student receipt
and completion/progress of classroom assignments and activities.
The position is also responsible for ensuring that students that are
placed in alternative school work on study habits, classroom behavior skills and
positive self-image.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the Alternative School.
Review Alternative school policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily.
Work with students on behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in the student being in Alternative School.
Monitor all Alternative School assignments, provide encouragement and feedback to students,monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
Serves as a liaison between the classroom teacher and students assigned to Alternative School to obtain and return assignments.
Communicate with parents and classroom teachers regarding student behavior and progress.
Maintain daily attendance and other records of students assigned to the Alternative School.
Perform any other related duties assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
Coordinate the credit recovery program for the high school
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- High School Teaching certification 9-12
- Multiple High School Content Certification Preferred
Reports To: Principal
Salary Range: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
