    Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in education or related field with a valid Georgia teaching certificate.

     

     Teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.

     
    •       Teach one or more subjects in the school within the framework of the goals established by the school system
    •       Demonstrates accurate and in-depth and current knowledge of school subject matter
    •       Demonstrates pedagogical skills appropriate to the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the students
    Teacher plans using state and local school district curricula and standards, effective strategies, resources, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
    •       Uses student learning data to inform planning
    •       Plans instruction effectively for content mastery for all students
    •       Develops appropriate lesson plans aligned to state, local school and district curricula and standards
     

    Teacher promotes student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content to engage students in active learning and to facilitate the student's acquisition of key knowledge and skills.  

     
    •       Utilizes research-based, effective instructional strategies
    •       Engages students in authentic, active learning by using a variety of methods and resources.
    •       Utilizes effective questioning and problem solving strategies to develop higher order thinking
     

    Teacher challenges and supports each individual student's learning by providing appropriate content and developing skills which address individual learning differences.

     
    •       Intentionally provides remediation, enrichment, and acceleration to develop student understanding
    •       Uses flexible grouping to accommodate student learning needs and goals
    •       Demonstrates high learning expectations for all students based on performance levels
     

    Teacher systematically chooses a variety of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies and instruments that are valid and appropriate for the content and student population.

     
    •       Uses formal and informal assessments aligned to standards for diagnostic, formative, and summative purposes
    •       Varies and modifies assessments and assessment techniques based on student needs
    •       Collaborates with others to develop common assessments, when appropriate
     

     Teacher systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, to inform instructional content and delivery methods, and to provide timely and constructive feedback to both students and parents.

     
    •       Uses diagnostic assessment data to develop learning goals for students, to differentiate instruction, and to document learning
    •       Shares accurate results of student progress with all stakeholders
    •       Provides constructive feedback to students to teach them how to use meta cognitive strategies to self-assess and measure their own progress.
     

    Teacher provides a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment that is conducive to learning and encourages respect for all.

     
    •       Uses positive behavior supports to establish clear expectations for rules, routines, and procedures
    •       Models caring, fairness, respect and enthusiasm to create a supportive classroom
    •       Promotes respect and appreciation of students' diversity, including-but not limited to- race, color, religion, sex. national origin, or disability
     

    Teacher creates a student-centered, academic environment in which teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.

     
    •       Provides academic rigor, encourages critical and creative thinking, and pushes students to achieve goals while maximizing instructional time.
    •       Encourages students to explore new ideas and take academic risks while conveying the message that mistakes are a valuable part of learning
    •       Communicates high but reasonable expectations while encouraging productivity by providing students with appropriately challenging and relevant activities
     

    Teacher exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission, participates in professional growth opportunities to support student learning, and contributes to the profession.

     
    •       Meets the performance and behavioral expectations of administration
    •       Maintains professional responsibilities and acts as a role model including but not limited to:  attendance, punctuality and appearance
    •       Self-assesses areas of own personal strengths and weaknesses related to professional skills and participates in ongoing professional growth activities
    •       Supports and participates in school wide activities beyond the classroom such as, social events, fundraisers, extra-curricular activities and community events.
    •       Effectively supervises paraprofessional, if applicable
    •       Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
     

     Teacher communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.

     
    •       Uses precise language, correct vocabulary and grammar, and appropriate forms of oral and written communication
    •       Adheres to school and district policies regarding communication of student information
    •       Create climate of accessibility for all stakeholders by demonstrating a collaborative and approachable style
    •       Collaborates with colleagues to problem solve, plan, and reach educational decisions that enhance and promote student learning
