Position:  Custodial Substitutes
 
Overview:
 
To clean and maintain assigned areas, including the grounds immediately surrounding the building.
 
 
Job Functions:
 
 
•         Clean and sanitize restrooms.
 
•         Clean chalkboards and erasers.
 
•         Empty garbage containers.
 
•         Change light bulbs.
 
•         Wash various surfaces.
 
•         Clean and maintain grounds and stadiums.
 
•         Distribute and replenish supplies.
 
•         Sweep, vacuum, mop and dust classrooms, halls, offices, and other spaces within a building.
 
•         Clean windows and walls.
 
•         Clean carpets, scrub and finish floors.
 
•         Pick up litter and trash inside and outside the building.
 
•         Secure building, if appropriate.
 
•         Minor maintenance functions: plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.
 
•         Prepare for special activities; arrange seating, cleanup after activities.
 
•         Change furnace filters.
 
•         Lubricate equipment.
 
•         Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Training and Experience:
 
Custodial and light maintenance experience required.  Knowledge of carpet care, cleaning equipment, and hard surface floor cleaning preferred. Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne pathogens training required (can be accomplished after selection). 
 
Special Requirements:
 
 
The person employed for this position must be able to verify identity and employment authorization. The candidate selected for this position must complete a pre-employment record check and be approved by the State Department of Education after having a Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Verification made. The selected candidate will pay $12.50 for fingerprint transmission and $70.00 for the verification check.

Classified Substitutes fulfill temporary staffing needs of the district for which a license to teach in the state of Oregon is not necessarily required. Such positions include Educational Assistants, Library Technology Assistants, Special Educational Assistants, Food Service Assistants and clerical work.

JOB SUMMARY
To assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals following specific guidelines for preparation, safety, sanitation, and a time schedule as directed by Food Services Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prior experience with quantity cooking and baking procedures preferred.

Licensed substitutes will be paid a daily rate of $230.00 for the current school year. As an additional incentive to attract and retain quality licensed substitute teachers, LOSD will pay an additional $10.00 per day ($1.25/hour) after a substitute teacher has worked 30 days or more in the current school year.

Licensed substitutes on long-term assignments will be paid at the long-term substitute rate of $256.00 per day.

Applicants must have a valid Oregon teaching license issued by the TSPC to substitute teach in our classrooms.

 
 
Essential Job Functions:
• Follow and maintain the professional standards and expectations required of all licensed teachers in Oregon.
• Demonstrate effective communication with building personnel, students and parents. 
• Be responsible for obtaining room key, room location, lesson plans and information regarding general building procedures, from the designated representative.
• Implement lesson plans and daily routine information.
• Take attendance according to classroom and school procedures.
• Conduct the class in an orderly manner. Manage student behavior in accordance with established policies and/or guidelines.
• Carry out the lessons according to the teacher's plans and follow the routines for the class.
• Follow procedures for collecting and grading of papers. 
• Leave a brief summary of the work completed during the substitute assignment.
• Leave a record of work assigned to students and any assignments collected from students.
