JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Social Worker
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure by Wyoming Mental Health Board; or maintains Professional Teaching Standards Board certification with proper endorsements
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
JOB GOAL: As a social worker/counselor, one must function within the support services provided under the definitions and regulations of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 34 CFR 300.34 ( c )(2). To help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains case records for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with district/state/federal regulations;
Participates in meetings and activities (e.g. IEP meetings, professional development, etc) for the purpose of advocating for students and improving knowledge and skills within program objectives;
Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality;
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions;
Provides small group or individual counseling for students as outlined in the IEP;
Guides students in their participation in school and community activities;
Acts as a resource for classroom teachers;
Makes home visitations for the purpose of building a healthy rapport between parents and children, parents and school, and children and school;
Preparing a social or developmental history as a part of the evaluation / reevaluation process;
Assisting in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies;
Refers students to those social service organizations that can help solve the student’s problems. Also, to provide communications with all social services that become involved with students;
Conduct follow-up studies of graduates in order to gain information and insight as to how the school might change to better serve the needs of graduation;
Responds to all inquiries for the purpose of providing information on district support services and/or educational programs;
Follow professional code of ethics;
Adheres to all applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing the operation of Fremont County School District #14;
Other duties which may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of contract to be determined by Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
