Position Overview: As a secondary Mathematics Teacher covering grades 6 to 12 in the Florence Unified School District, you will have the unique opportunity to nurture students' mathematical growth across a range of levels and topics. Your responsibilities will include designing comprehensive and engaging lessons, fostering critical thinking, promoting problem-solving skills, and helping students develop a solid foundation in various branches of mathematics. Your role contributes to the overarching mission of delivering exceptional education by equipping students with the mathematical proficiency needed for academic success and future pursuits.
Responsibilities: 1. Curriculum Delivery:
- Successful implementation of the district mathematics curriculum and state standards according to the students grade level.
2. Concept Mastery:
- Teach students fundamental mathematical concepts, techniques, and principles according to the students grade level.
3. Problem-Solving Skills:
- Encourage students to apply mathematical methods to solve a wide range of problems, fostering critical thinking and analytical skills.
4. Technology Integration:
- Incorporate technology tools and digital platforms to enhance learning experiences, simulations, and data analysis.
5. Differentiated Instruction:
- Recognize diverse learning needs within the classroom, adapting instruction to cater to varying student abilities and learning styles.
6. Assessments and Feedback:
- Design assessments that evaluate students' understanding of mathematical concepts, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning.
- Provide constructive feedback to guide students' growth.
7. Collaborative Learning:
- Promote collaborative learning through group projects, discussions, and cooperative problem-solving activities.
8. Parent Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in mathematics.
9. Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about math education trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum enhancements.
10. Inclusive Learning Environment:
- Creates a classroom environment that is not only safe but also inclusive, nurturing, and conducive to both individualized and small group instruction, thereby fostering a sense of belonging where every student can flourish.

Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field; teaching certification is required.
- Proven experience in teaching high school mathematics across various grades and levels, with a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and instructional strategies.
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in the core area content
- Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Education, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum of three (3) years previous teaching experience or school experience in teaching Math (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: - Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Valid Arizona Teaching certificate
Working Environment: - The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- May be required to travel to various school district buildings and attend professional meetings as needed, actively participating in the collective efforts to empower the community.
Terms of Employment: - Salary schedule commensurate with education and experience for this position
- 188 day new teacher contract - per work calendar for this position
- 186 returning teacher contract - per the work calendar for this position

Evaluation: - Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the site administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
