Job Description:
The Arena Maintenance and Utility Worker position is responsible to assist building and grounds personnel in maintaining the facilities, grounds and the operations of the Sports Center (Ice Arena).
This position is a shared position between the Sports Center & Grounds. During the summer months (April – September) you will work with the Building and grounds staff to maintain school grounds and buildings as needed. During the winter month (October – March) you will be assigned to the Sports Center and assist staff on the day-to-day operations at the Sports Center.
This position will require evening and weekend work.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, abiding by and enforcing rules and policies pertaining to the facilities; providing a safe, clean and customer friendly environment for students, teachers, guests and patrons; complete opening/closing procedures; operation of the Zamboni and other ice making equipment; assist in directing staff to ensure assigned duties are completed; report all problems to supervisor; and, provide direction in the event of an emergency.
Other duties include general maintenance, such as; misc. painting, emptying trash, cleaning of building (including locker rooms, bathrooms, player boxes and penalty boxes), maintain cleanliness of public areas (lobby, halls, walls, floors, bleachers, etc.), building and ice maintenance, monitor all areas of building and ensure public does not have access to non-public areas, monitor parking lot for safety and security.
Knowledge of Small Machines: Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner: (Mowing equipment, Zamboni, snow blowers. plows, hand cleaning equipment)
Qualifications:
Boilers License is Preferred; Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written modes, including the ability to provide clear explanations and answers to inquiries.
Ability to comply with verbal and written instructions and established procedures.
Ability to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities and maintain attendance.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, complete tasks and routines as assigned.
Ability to work with employees and others in a courteous, tactful and professional manner.
Ability to effectively utilize human relations skills and abilities in resolving disputes and problems through verbal and nonverbal communications.
Ability to hear within normal hearing range and understand spoken English delivered at a normal conversational level.
Possess visual acuity correctable to read common documents and perform job tasks.
