Title: School Based Occupational Therapist
Evergreen School District seeks a Occupational Therapist (Contract) to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen’s mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. This position reports directly to the Special Services Director. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and adolescents, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to promoting independence and improving the quality of life for students with diverse needs.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Montana. Maintains professional liability insurance and Independent Contractor Exemption. Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a school or pediatric setting. Strong knowledge of child development, sensory processing, and therapeutic techniques for children and adolescents. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning. Job Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students’ motor, sensory, and cognitive skills. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student’s unique needs and goals. Provide therapeutic interventions and activities to enhance students’ functional abilities and independence in school-related tasks. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students’ participation and success in academic and extracurricular activities. Monitor and document students’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Educate and train school personnel and caregivers on strategies and techniques to support students’ development and participation in school activities. Stay informed about best practices, evidence-based interventions, and legal requirements related to school-based occupational therapy services. Knowledge of Medicaid Billing System and ability to learn the District's system. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
