    TITLE: Maintenance Technician CLASSIFICATION: Non-Certified
    FLSA:     Non-exempt DEPARTMENT: Building and Grounds
    SALARY: $46,000 - $62,000 WORK YEAR:       12 months

    REPORTS TO: Director of Building and Grounds

    DESCRIPTION: Maintenance Technicians perform maintenance services with specific responsibility for maintaining facilities in safe operating condition, addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns, performing skilled trades as qualified, and safely using and maintaining required tools and machinery.


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Skill in a field relating to building and/or engineering trades
    2. Active Physical Condition
    3. Mathematical competency sufficient to perform calculations including fractions, percents, and/or ratios.
    4. Driving record with no more than one moving violation in the past two years.
    5. Illinois Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days
    6. OSHA certification preferred.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of:
    1. Basic Math
    2. Standards, methods, materials and tools in an assigned skilled trade
    3. Safety practices and procedures
    4. Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
    5. Expertise in drywall installation, repair, and finishing techniques.
    6. Proficiency in surface preparation, priming, and painting applications.

    2. Use job-related equipment appropriately and effectively
    3. Problem-solve using data and other information
    4. Adapt to changing work conditions

    DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: (May not include all duties performed)
    1. Perform maintenance tasks for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner
    2. Coordinate with supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently
    3. Perform skilled carpentry work, including framing, cabinetry, shelving, and door installations and repairs.
    4. Install, repair, and finish drywall, including taping, mudding, and sanding for a smooth finish.
    5. Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, doors, and trim, ensuring a high-quality finish.
    6. Conduct routine inspections of school facilities to identify and address carpentry, drywall, and painting needs.
    7. Install system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
    8. Maintains vehicle, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
    9. Monitors and maintains boilers to ensure proper functioning
    10. Operates equipment including snow removal equipment as necessary
    11. Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars for the purpose of gathering the information necessary to perform functions
    12. Performs a variety of maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, glazing, HVAC) in order to complete projects efficiently.
    13. Performs preventative maintenance functions on HVAC systems as directed
    14. Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, boiler logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
    15. Repairs a variety of furniture and building components to ensure that they are maintained safe working condition
    16. Makes sure that equipment and supplies are available to perform necessary maintenance tasks
    17. Transports a variety of tools and equipment as needed for the job site
    18. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
    19. Performs other related duties as assigned
