    4-9 Science or Any combination of grades 6 to 8 appropriate licence/ experience

     

     Description:

     

    Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing diocese approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.  To teach according to the provided courses of study. And guide a group of students for the Science Fair. 

     


    Qualifications:

     
    1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university

    2. Appropriate State of Ohio certifications/license in the appropriate grade level

    3. Prior teaching experience is preferable

    Essential Functions:

     
    1. Ensure safety of students

    2. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners

    3. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

    4. Attend meetings, in-services and/or training programs as required per negotiated agreement and Superintendent or designee

    5. Refer students suspected of learning difficulties to the intervention assistance team

    6. Observe ethics of the teaching profession

    7. Follow/support/carry out the school’s mission statement

    8. Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to Principal and/or Administration

    9. Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.

    10. Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.

    11. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction

    12. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

    13. Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school.

    14. Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

    15. Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by diocese procedures..

    16. Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

    17. Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

    18. Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.

    19. Select and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

    20. Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.

    21. Administer standardized tests in accordance with school testing programs.

     

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

     
    • Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional seminars, workshops, in-services, etc. to keep current on relevant issues

    • Support school, enforce school rules and policies and work collaboratively with team members

    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal

    • Uses standard office equipment such as computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
