    Curriculum Specialist: K-6 ELA

    Job Summary:
    The Curriculum Specialist works under the Director to support the implementation of the Teaching & Learning Framework district-wide. This role involves coaching teachers, leading professional learning opportunities, and ensuring the framework is integrated into instructional practices at all grade levels. The specialist also collaborates with district stakeholders to align the unified curriculum and the teaching and learning framework with educational goals outlined in the strategic plan while continuously assessing effectiveness and making data-driven improvements. Additionally, the role includes maintaining a professional learning calendar and communicating progress to key stakeholders.

    1. Unified Curriculum Development and Teaching and Learning Framework Implementation
      • Develop and monitor the implementation of the 6-12 ELA unified curriculum instruction, and assessment plan (UCIA), board adopted 6-12 ELA resources, and practices in the Teaching & Learning Framework
      • Participate on the Curriculum Resource Governance Committee, conduct program evaluation of 6-12 ELA Board adopted resources, and facilitate instructional resource selection processes

    1. Professional Learning & Support
      • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to teachers on the effective use of the unified curriculum and Teaching & Learning Framework
      • Lead professional learning opportunities focused on the implementation of the UCIA, resource(s), and  best practices outlined in the framework
      • Develop and maintain a year-long professional learning calendar that aligns with annual objectives aligned to District priorities
        Ensure clear action items, deadlines, and budget considerations are included for each professional development activity
      • Adapt the professional learning based on feedback from teachers and staff

    1. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
      • Regularly assess the effectiveness of unified curriculum and professional learning in achieving instructional goals
      • Collect data and feedback from teachers, administrators, and students to gauge the curriculum’s  impact
      • Make data-driven adjustments to professional learning plans to ensure continuous improvement

    1. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
      • Work closely with other Curriculum Specialists to ensure consistent and effective implementation of the curriculum and framework
      • Collaborate with district departments, such as curriculum, assessment, and student support teams, to ensure adequate resources and support for students in their progression of learning
      • Communicate objectives, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and parents

    Education and Experience:
    • Master’s Degree in Education preferred; preference for National Board Certification;
    • Minimum five years as an effective classroom teacher; preference for classroom experience teaching ELA; 
    • Demonstrated experience leading professional learning;*
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and involvement in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.*
    • *Acceptable demonstration of experience and/or knowledge will be at the sole discretion of the District
    • Valid Colorado Teacher’s License;
    Working Conditions:
    207 days/year

    Salary & Benefits:
    Teacher Base Pay Salary Schedule Range:
    $50,015 - $104,432 based on one (1) FTE at one hundred eighty eight (188) days.

    Hiring Range for External Candidates:
    $50,015 - $85,857 
    *Teachers are initially placed according to experience. Teachers new to the District may be granted up to 15 years of experience, provided the experience occurred within the last 20 years in accordance with the MVEA Agreement.
