    Pay: Stipend will depend on the number of days the SSW intern agrees to be on-site as part of their internship and learning agreement in accordance with their University's requirements and SD308 expectations:
    2 days/week = $4,000
    3 days/week = $6,000
    4 days/week = $8,000

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    Oswego Community Unit School District 308 will be offering ten paid school social work internship positions for the 2025-2026 school year (181 Days).  Interns will gain valuable experience in MTSS; initial and re-evaluations for Special Education services; Domain, Eligibility, and IEP meetings; assessment scoring and the interpretation of educational data results; participation in problem solving and 504 meetings; the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans; Special Education Programming (engagement or observation depending on internship placement); session planning; individual and group social work services; crisis intervention; progress monitoring; collaboration with the educational team; parent engagement; and understanding mental health services within the school setting.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    1. The social work intern must be currently enrolled, in good standing and in a Master of Social Work program (in their second year or in Advanced Standing) with specialization in schools and be pursuing the State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)–School Social Worker Endorsement.
    2. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents in a civil and respectful manner.
    3. Individual initiative, professional collaboration, and teamwork.
    4. Consultation/Problem-Solving/Organizational Skills
    5. Knowledge of legal, ethical, and professional issues related to the practice of school social work.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:
    1. Utilize evidence-based interventions to support student social, emotional and
    behavioral growth.
    2. Provide School Social Work services across school settings; meeting needs of
    classroom, small groups and individual students experiencing academic, social,
    emotional or behavioral challenges.
    3. IEP process (evaluation/re-evaluation, IEP paperwork, goal writing, IEP meeting participation, FBA/BIP).
    4. Participation in building level Student Support Team meetings, PLC meetings and monthly Social Work Department meetings.
    5. Consultation with educators, outside providers and community agencies as
    appropriate.
    6. Crisis prevention, de-escalation and risk assessment.
    7. Participate in systems-based social work involving the student, the family, and the school personnel in identifying needs, establishing an intervention plan, and collaborating with community agencies to provide additional support
