    Purpose Statement

     

    The job goal of this position is to provide custodial services at assigned location; ensuring students, staff and visitors with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. Hours will be from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday - Friday. These positions have the possibility to become full time.  

     

     

     

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet and perform both General expectations and Essential Functions:

     

     

     

    General Expectations:

     
    • Workdays scheduled on an as-needed basis.
    • Maintain neat appearance which includes good hygiene and well-groomed.
    • Complies with the privacy rights of students, staff and faculty.
    • Safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information.
    • Communicates effectively.
    • Provides excellence in work to be performed.
    • Reacts to change productively.
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from work. 
    • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
     

     

     

    Essential Functions:

     
    • Dust, sweep, and/or mop floors as instructed.
    • Wash windows and clean window sills.
    • Care for and clean the grounds (Playground, sidewalks and all entry & exit locations, etc.).
    • Scrub, strip, wax floors as scheduled.
    • Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, floors, etc.
    • Replace restroom supplies as needed.
    • Report any damage to school property and report maintenance needs via work order system.
    • Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as needed.
    • Follow the established schedule.
    • Sweep exterior walkways and remove snow/debris as directed.
    • Relieve, assist, or fill in temporarily on other jobs as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Know the location, proper care, and use of all firefighting equipment.
    • Maintain security of the classroom, buildings and grounds.
    • Check to make sure all doors are locked, windows are locked, and buildings are checked for fire hazards.
    • Assist with routine maintenance during the summer months.
    • Report any trouble or problems relating to the heating or cooling systems and plumbing immediately.
    • Clean and maintain tools, supplies, and equipment after each use and store in their proper place.
    • Secure the building at end of shift.
    • Carry out all other duties as assigned. 
     

     

     

     Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

     
    • Perform basic math
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals in English
    • Respond or redirect inquiries from staff, students, visitors, etc.
    • Understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
    • Solve practical problems
    • Interpret instructions given orally, or in writing by diagram or form
    • Minimal use of technology is required including data entry for time clock and work orders.
    • Ability to work with a diversified group of people in various settings.
     

    Physical Demands

     
    • While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls and talk and hear. 
    • The employee is frequently required to reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop and kneel
    • The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders.
    • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 90 pounds.  The employees will frequently push or pull items such as desks, tables, bleachers and scrubbing machines.
    • Specific vision requirements include close and peripheral vision and depth perception

    Conditions and Environment

     

    While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works indoors and occasionally works outdoors.  The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.  The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be loud.
