Primary Purpose:
Coordinate, plan, and prepare compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education Services.  Responsible for chairing, or co-chairing, ARD meetings, and serves more than one campus.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, local laws, and guidelines and procedures
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
Experience in adapting and implementing curriculum to meet individual learning and behavioral          needs
Knowledge about instructional materials, technology, and state evaluation methods
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments
Skill in working with and presenting to diverse populations of students, parents, and community members
Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making, especially in difficult circumstances
 
Experience:
Three (3) years teaching experience, including experience teaching disabled and other students with diverse learning needs
Experience with Special Education Management System or other computer based documentation system preferred
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Schedules, or assists in scheduling, Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and notifies parents of the ARD meeting, including distribution of ARD calendar to appropriate ARD Committee members in a timely fashion; ensures that ITP elements are completed in applicable cases; notifies all appropriate school personnel of ARD meetings/ARD schedule changes.
2. Ensures that federal/state timelines are met with respect to functions of ARD Committee meetings; requests for additional assessments and required timelines set by ARD Committee.
3. Monitors ARD paperwork completed by campus personnel; completes and turns in ARD paperwork to official audit file within 72 hours of the meeting; turns in PEIMS information to campus registrar within 48 hours of the ARD meeting.
4. Completes lists, forms, reports, PEIMS forms, and data required by the Special Education Office by due dates (e.g., transportation forms, ESY forms, October counts, etc).
5. Maintains current state assessment test lists; referral lists, and referrals for related services evaluation; maintains communication among assessment, service providers, and related services personnel.
6. Provides for systematic communication among special and general education personnel (with respect to ARD meetings and decisions, IEPs, accommodations needed in the general education setting, relevant instructional concerns and progress).
7. Completes applicable ARD supplements with accompanying data collected by campus staff (i.e., ESY regression data, all IEPs, BIPs, etc.).
8. Follows end of year procedures for folder exchanges, summer testing, etc.
9. Assists campus administrator(s) to ensure compliance with mandates for due process guaranteed to students with disabilities by state/federal law; ensures compliance with local policies and procedures outlined for this population.
10. Maintains thorough documentation regarding any significant problems with ARD Committee procedures; attends Special Education Department staff meetings; attends relevant professional development.
11. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
12. Comply with requirements of federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Comply with all district and campus requirements and regulations.
13. Maintain confidentiality of all student and special education information.
14. Maintain positive community relations by establishing positive rapport with students and parents.

Primary Purpose:
Provide support and training for teachers, staff, and parents to address and manage students with challenging behaviors.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree, required
Valid Texas certification or endorsement in the area of special education (Must obtain SPED certification within first year)
BCBA licensure preferred
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of general curriculum and instruction practices and techniques
Knowledge of behavior disorders (i.e. ED/D, ASD)
Knowledge of current laws and regulations regarding school practices
Knowledge of legal frameworks and processes regarding Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP),    Response to Intervention (RTI), Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD), and Individual Education Program (IEP)
Ability to display professionalism in dealing with students, campus staff, and parents

Experience:
Five (5) years teaching or related administrative experience; three (3) years experience working with students diagnosed with behavior disorders.  Experience developing behavior management strategies for students with disabilities and experience consulting with parents, teachers and support personnel.
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional and Program Management
 
1. Collaborate with administrators and teachers to design and develop research based behavioral intervention plans (BIP), provide support to instructional staff in implementing BIPs, and classroom management strategies.
2. Monitor the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and recommend changes as needed.
3. Conduct functional behavioral assessment (FBA) based on observation of students in school, home, and community environments. Work with school staff and parents in teaching socially acceptable behaviors to students based on individual needs.
4. Participate in admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee meetings. Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other staff members to ensure success in meeting individual educational plan (IEP) goals.
5. Manage student behavior and administer discipline including intervening in crisis situations and physically restraining students as necessary according to IEP.
6. Assist teachers with lesson planning, lesson modeling, classroom management, and behavior management.
7. Develop and maintain effective behavioral management and intervention techniques with individual and/or groups of students and provide assistance in meeting educations, occupational, and personal needs.
8. Provide individual and small group activities designed to improve interpersonal relationships and social skills for students attending an Alternative Education Program (AEP).
9. Participate in the Response to Intervention (RtI) process and Early Intervention Team (EIT) meetings to address academic and behavioral issues with identified students.
10. Conference with parents, administrators, and teachers concerning school and student issues.
11. Conduct home visits as needed.

12. Identify staff development needs, develop and present training, and coach campus personnel to continually develop and enhance behavioral assessment and intervention skills.
13. Provide behavior management training for parents as needed.

14. Pursue continuous improvement and growth in knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, methodologies, and analysis.

15. Consult with district and outside resources regarding education, social, medical, and personal needs of students.

Primary Purpose:
Perform professional psychological work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of students referred to special education services.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in psychology from accredited college or university
Valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
Knowledge of psycho-social development
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
 
Experience:
One (1) year experience providing psychology services in an educational setting
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Select and administer assessments and observations to evaluate the intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of referred students. Determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations.
2. Develop psychological evaluation reports and behavior management plans.
3. Conduct or participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
4. May serve as case manager and implement the special education assessment process for students on assigned campuses.
5. Meet with parents to discuss pertinent background information and test results. Conduct group, individual, and family counseling sessions and facilitative therapy for students with diagnosed problems.
6. Consult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students, interpretation of assessment data, and implementation of behavior intervention plans in managing disruptive students.
7. Consult with psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and community agencies concerning intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of students as needed.
8. Present staff development training in assigned schools to enable school personnel to identify and work more effectively with students with emotional, social, and behavioral disturbances.
9. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of psychological services and assessment procedures and make changes based on findings.
10. Participate in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.
11. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including case records, test results, statistical data, and test inventories.
12. Comply requirements of federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Comply with all district and local campus requirements and regulations.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in occupational therapy or related program
Valid Texas license as an occupational therapist granted by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners

Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
 
Experience:

5. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student.
