    Summary: 
    Serve as the grant writer for 27J Schools.   Write/complete the actual grant application and meet grant submittal deadlines.  Ensure that all competitive funding opportunities align with the District’s and department strategic initiatives.  Track current and future grants and ensure that reporting is completed properly and timely as directed by the grantor.
     
    Essential duties and responsibilities:

     
    • Research, write, and submit publicly and privately funded grant proposals/applications. Ensure grant proposals/applications are written to honor deliverables within specified deadlines, outlined budgets, and desired quality level of grant proposals/applications.
    • Research and recommend grant opportunities that support the District’s mission, vision, strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures in preparation for grant submission. Implement, monitor, and ensure internal review process while maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. Design and implement functional changes to maximize the efficiency of grant programs.
    • Resolve issues/conflicts with grant projects, programs, proposals, and applications. Review and edit grant proposals and applications written by colleagues and/or community partners, provide feedback, and assist with successful award outcomes.
    • Analyze and communicate grant funding trends to District leadership and colleagues. Develop and distribute strategies for grant-seeking consistent with current and future District goals and in alignment with strategic priorities.
    • Create and maintain grant records in database and hardcopy files, including tracking of currently awarded, submitted/pending, and prospective grant opportunities.
    • Communicate grant objectives, program evaluation, and reporting results internally through publications, meetings, newsletters, website, and other forums.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
     
    Education and Training: 
    • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field experience or related background in grant writing
    • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses • Master’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field • Experience working in public education • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds • Certified Grant Writer® (CGW) certification • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
     
    Experience:
    Three (3) years of professional work experience in grant writing/related activities or educational background in writing/communication/research.
     
    Skills, Knowledge and Equipment:
    • Experience writing and producing polished documents for internal and external use, both independently and collaboratively
    • Experience handling multiple concurrent projects while achieving consistent positive results and ting deadlines
    • Expertise in academic research
    • Conceptual thinking to visualize, determine, prioritize, mediate, and delegate tasks to colleagues
    • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of public and private grant resources, opportunities,   criteria, regulatory, and legal requirements
    • Advanced knowledge of key components to successful grant writing
    • Advanced knowledge of grant lifecycle to include grant research, grant writing, grant management, program evaluation, and funding diversity
    • Intermediate teamwork skills
    • Advanced interpersonal relations skills
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
    • Advanced technical writing and editing skills
    • Ability to lead, support, and serve District colleagues
    • Ability to generate and maintain significant grant awards
    • Ability to display a sense of urgency and proactive problem-solving
    • Ability to write clear and concise, well-structured, articulate, and persuasive grant proposals/applications
    • Ability to research, analyze, synthesize, and present compelling data and research to stakeholders     and grantors
    • Ability to demonstrate forward thinking and anticipation of future needs when composing multi-year grant funded projects containing detailed budget plans
    • Criminal background check
