Job Description:
TITLE: Media Librarian
QUALIFICATIONS:- Holds a bachelor's or higher degree in library science
- Holds a valid Kentucky certificate as a media librarian
- Has demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, staff, parents and community
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources.
PERFORMANCERESPONSIBILITIES:- Operate and supervise the library to which assigned
- Establish and supervise procedures for evaluating, selecting, and requisitioning new library materials
- Assist teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials, and make library materials available to supplement the instructional program
- Inform teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires
- Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instruct teachers and students on use of the system
- Arrange for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers
- Work with teachers in planning those assignments that are likely to lead to an extended use of library resources
- Promote appropriate conduct of students using library facilities
- Help students develop habits of independent reference work and skills in the use of reference materials in related to planned assignments
- Arrange frequently changing book-related displays and exhibits designed to increase students’ interests
- Prepare, recommend to the Principal, and administer the library budget
- Supervise and evaluate library aides in the performance of their duties
- Dispose of obsolete and worn materials from the collection on an annual basis and maintain a complete inventory
- Supervise the clerical routines necessary for the smooth operation of the library
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and other self-selected professional growth activities
- Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor

TITLE: Para Educator Preschool
QUALIFICATIONS:- Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
- Has and maintains certification in American Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR and First Aid

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal/Preschool Teacher
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in creating and facilitating a developmentally appropriate and responsive environment to meet the needs of each child and of the classroom group as a whole; to serve as a supportive resource to each child’s family.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for children based on the High Scope model and incorporating successful strategies from other early childhood and special education methods

* Work to integrate special needs children into each activity focusing on embedding skills in the daily routine
* Participate actively in circle time activities with the group

- Perform routing clerical duties, such as preparation of instructional and classroom materials; operation of copy machine; maintain classroom records; and maintain attendance records
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FAMILY AND COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT:- Schedule and monitor home visits with the teacher and parents to ensure all students have a minimum of two home visits and one parent conference at school
- Maintain copies of home visit forms for each child
- Monitor parent contacts to ensure communication with parents is frequent
- Prepare weekly or monthly newsletters and any parent information letters regarding trips, happenings, etc. with the assistance of the teacher
- Label and log new equipment and materials
- Assist the Record/Health assistant with her responsibilities
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RECORDS/HEALTH ASSISTANT- Maintain the permanent records on all students in the classroom to ensure their organization and completeness
- Maintain a control sheet on all students to keep record of immunizations and other required paperwork
- Contact parents if information is inadequate and request necessary information
- Maintain attendance records and lunch count and keep up to date class roster. Submit class roster to preschool consultant’s office monthly
- Maintain an up-to-date control sheet on vision and hearing screening and follow-up treatment
- Maintain supply list and prepare purchase order for health supplies, garbage can liners, disinfectant spray, personal protection supplies, soap, etc.
