Promote literacy through reading and/or hands-on activities with students
Promote and encourage reading for academic achievement, lifelong learning, and leisure pursuits
Provide students with age-appropriate fiction and nonfiction reading materials and assist in the location and selection of reading materials based on student reading level, interests, and information needs
Oversee the general operation of the school library
Prepare and distribute miscellaneous overdue notices, statistical, and circulation reports, and correspondence without supervision
Assist with the supervision of students in the media center
Maintain, process, and requisition necessary library equipment, materials, and supplies
Manage and oversee the distribution and collection of student devices (including loaner units)
Provide basic troubleshooting for common issues with student devices (force restart, powerwash, ticket submission, etc)
Maintain accurate inventory of all student devices using applicable asset management software or other district-approved method
Assist students and staff in the use of electronic on-line catalog, Dewey decimal system, special reference materials, proper selection and utilization of library resources
Catalog and process new resources and complete yearly inventory
Prepare lesson plans, train and supervise library helpers
Plan and implement book fairs and author visits
Maintain condition and appropriateness of library resources and bulletin boards
Supervise students for teacher prep periods
Incorporate K-12 Academic Content Standards for Libraries
Operate media center equipment; e.g., Computer, Projector, Viewboard (Interactive Display)
Proactively address potential problem areas to ensure timely completion of tasks
Interact positively with staff, students, and parents
Attend applicable in-service meetings or training, i.e., LNOCA
Order student periodicals, books, audio-visual materials, and supplies as directed
Communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
Effectively operate all applicable library and office equipment
Effectively communicate with all necessary building staff
Ability to complete basic math tasks
Knowledge of the Dewey decimal system
Knowledge of audio-visual equipment
Ability to be flexible and easily adaptable to change
Follow the District safety and regulatory compliance policy, procedures, and guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and/or other designated administrative staff
