Purpose: Assists in setting up, preparing and serving daily meals and assists in cleanup of food service areas and equipment, trays, silverware and utensils.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possesses high personal grooming and behavior standards for cleanliness and professional appearance
- Ability to interact well with other USD employees
- Ability to accept standards and to follow instructions
- Moderate physical demands
- Must be able to get to work in any and all weather or temperature conditions with reliable transportation to and from scheduled shift.
Supervisor: Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director
Performance Responsibilities: - Prepare foods as specified on menus and/or according to plans set by Director of Food Service.
- Maintain responsibility for assigned food preparation, service and clean up.
- Perform food handling, line service or table service under strict safety and sanitary guidelines and regulations.
- Prepare amounts of food as directed and replenishes food in the line as required.
- Implements local and governmental policies and regulations as required.
- Keep records and accounts for all meals served.
- Store, shelve and access food supplies; keep storage facility in an orderly manner.
- Abide by practices and procedures to safely lift and carry supplies.
- Practice safe operations of food service equipment; meet all district safety requirements. (District, KDHE, USDA)
- Clean lunch room(s) and areas assigned to food service and maintain sanitary conditions at all times; wash hands upon arrival; wear a hairnet and proper attire at all times during work hours.
- Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, storerooms, and ovens at regularly scheduled intervals as required.
- Store chemicals and other possible food contaminants appropriately as required.
- Observe and report possible contamination, sanitary or safety conditions to Director of Food Service.
- Report needed minor or major repairs to Director of Food Service.
- Stand ready to relieve or to fill in as required.
- Achieve all work assignments according to standards.
- Maintain district appearance and grooming standards.
- Manage job with ability to read, write and comprehend written and oral instructions; maintain good health and physical condition to cook, shelve, clean, transport, and serve food on a daily basis; moves, lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis, pulls, or pushes heavy objects; use observation and communication to conduct jobs related to cooking, cleaning and serving food to children; use all types of kitchen and cleaning equipment.
- Attend in-service and/or instructional sessions.
- Assist with relief on the serving line
- Other job duties as assigned.
