Speech & Language Pathologist
Job Description
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Master’s Degree required.
2. Valid Georgia teaching certificate (SLP SRS5)
3. Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology issued by the ASHA
4. Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication, planning, organization
REPORTS TO: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
2. Evaluate communication skills of students referred and diagnose speech and/or language
disorders.
3. Assure placement of students in the speech-language program and develop and implement
speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to
established due process procedures.
4. Conduct and/or participate in IEP meetings.
5. Schedule students appropriately.
6. Provide consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies in
order to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs,
and the home environment.
7. Report and maintain student data to assess progress and continuation or termination of
services.
8. Comply with State and District regulations regarding due process paperwork and
Medicaid documentation.
9. Refer to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate.
10. Investigate and use new strategies for delivering student services.
11. Participate in professional learning opportunities provided.
12. Participate with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination,
and implementation of speech-language program into total educational system.
13. Participate in MTSS process at local school level as needed.
14. Report information required for local, state, and federal programs.
15. Maintain special education records for speech-language students at local school.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 day position. Salary based on Board approved certified teacher
pay schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal or designee.
