Lunch Responsibilities
• Assists students with lining up to receive their lunches.
• Supervises students outside on playground areas.
• Monitors/controls noise level within the cafeteria.
• Monitors/controls behavior of students during lunch services.
• Helps students open containers/packages that they may be unable to open themselves.
• Wipes down tables and monitors/helps students clean up their individual areas.
• Sweeps up floor areas that may have debris.
• Monitors floors for any spills, and cleans up immediately in order to avoid any falls from occurring.
• Sets up and tears down tables and chairs.
• Ensures that students are never left unattended.
• Keeps students safe and engaged.
• Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.

Library Responsibilities
• Catalogs materials. Assists students/staff with the retrieval of information and materials. Maintains an orderly circulation system
• Processes loans and returns and prepares overdue notices
• Keeps books, periodicals, pamphlets, etc., properly shelved
• Inventories the library collection and media equipment as directed
• Helps students/staff use library/media computers, peripherals, and equipment (e.g., videos, CD-ROMs, audio tapes, etc.).
• Assists teachers with the operation of audio-visual equipment
• To notify the principal as soon as possible before 6:30 a.m. the morning of absence in the event of illness or absence.
 
 
 Study Hall Responsibilities               
 
• Maintains proper classroom discipline and for the general conduct of any and all students.
• Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Keeps students safe and engaged.
• Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.

Qualifications
• Clean criminal background.
• Three (3) positive professional references.
• Experience working with school aged children.

After Hire (Contingent)
• Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license.
• FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 12 months (Cost varies per agency).

Job Objective: Provides support services during student lunch time / meal service.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Valid state department of education license/permit as determined at the time of appointment.
• Behavioral management skills substantiated by training/work experience. Duties may require agility, physical strength, and stamina to address the needs of students with problem behavior and/or require physical assistance (e.g., mobility, transferring, positioning, etc.).
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Meets federal health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment.
• Shows evidence of core computer competencies deemed appropriate at the time of hire.
• NOTE: Position may require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, CPR, and/or first aid training as a condition of employment.

Essential Functions:  
1. Responsible for monitoring student behavior during student lunchtime / meal service.
 
• Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, assists with recycling, and assists with the flow of meal service. Work is performed under the general supervision of the principal with consultation from the Manager of Nutrition Services.
• Manages students during lunchtime / meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site).
• Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Circulates throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten and helping students who require assistance.
• Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
• Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.
• Encourages appropriate table manners.
• Participates in training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested.
• Controls student access to lockers, toilet rooms, etc.
 
2. Exemplifies professionalism and fosters goodwill to enhance the district’s public image.
 
• Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
• Contributes to an effective and positive work/learning environment. Completes all assigned duties.
