Dedicated School Staffing is proud to support Black River Local Schools for the recruitment of substitute teaching opportunities. Special education aides/paraprofessionals play an important role in our schools by assisting students with special educational needs.
 

Responsibilities
• Physically able to do work which requires standing for many hours.
• Has health and temperament to successfully cope with children.
• Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
• Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with each other.
• Keeps students safe and engaged.
• Exhibits proper classroom management techniques.
• Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.
• Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child.
• Documents lesson plans.
• Maintains student records/performance.
• Follows the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of the student.
• Assists with preparation of materials for use in special education programs under the direction of classroom teachers.
• Assist disabled children with daily living skills (i.e., feeding, toileting) vocational preparation, and mobility training as directed by the classroom teacher.
 
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Clean criminal background.
• Three (3) positive professional references.
• Experience working with special needs school aged children.

After Hire (Contingent)
• Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license.
• FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 365 days of hire (Cost varies per agency).

Details
• Part-time; on-call;
• No nights, weekends or holidays
• Enrollment in School Employees Retirement System
